No drinking while eating and stopping fluids 15 minutes prior?
I just started pureed so now i started the spacing.. it's hard i am not going to lie. I am so used to drinking while i eat. Now i am feeling like i planning when to eat and drink because i have to stop fluids 15 min prior to eating and 30 min after eating. Does it get easier?? I feel like i am choosing one or the other because so much planning goes around it. I am really trying to keep on top of my fluids too.... also it takes me forever to eat so i am not finishing my food OR i am waiting over 2 hours to start drinking again. How did you plan around this? Does it become easier?? I am 16 days post-op
It takes me 2 hours to finish 1 scrambled egg and 1 tbsp of fat free cottage cheese CRAZY.. i mix them together though and its delish and it gives me good amount of protein and makes it easier to go down more liquidy.
It does get easier, the longer you are out from your surgery you will find that you don't even relize that you miss drinking while eating. When i first started i could not get through a meal with out a glass of water at my side, just could not choke down the food with out something to wa**** down with. Now i am almost a year out and i can't remember why i always needed the water there. It does take a little longer to eat but before you know it your done and the 30minute wait to drinl is over.
Ya know i would never say do not listen to your doctor to anyone. but I will say i have never followed this rule and i have never regained my weight..I always drink when i eat every single time...

My surgeon requires that I have my meal done in 20 min or toss the rest. Fear of grazing if you take that long perhaps

no drinking with food can become a habit if you stick to it. I rarely have to look at the clock anymore. When I'm thirsty after a meal I drink and it's rarely within 45 mins of my last bite. I watched the clock like a hawk in the beginning until it became a habit.
I would be more concerned about eating over a 2 hour period. Just because your plan says you can have 2 scrambled egg and 1 T of cottage cheese doesn't mean you HAVE to have that amount. Eat until satisfied try to take 30 mins to eat and then set it aside for another meal or toss it out. 2 hour eating can turn into grazing. The food you are eating the second hour is filling up space from the first food that has already passed through. space you wouldn't need to fill if you ate til satisfied in 30 mins waited the 30 mins and then drank.
