Lettuce

Hi everyone.  I'm 11 weeks out from surgery and have tried to eat lettuce a couple of times this week.  Unfortunately, my tummy can't tolerate the stuff and the pain, gas and loud rumblings are quite surprising.  Has anyone experienced similar problems when eating lettuce?  I do miss salads.

I'm almost 4 years out from surgery. Still can not eat lettuce. :(

Hopefully it is not your case!

Still a bit early for lettuce and make sure you use iceberg to test the waters...I was 3 months out before trying iceberg lettuce but closer to 6 months out before getting the good stuff.

When you do start salads, work up slowly.

First JUST the iceberg lettuce. then a few days or a week later, add tomatoe...then next, another topping...basically add a new item with at least 3 days between each. That way, if you do have a reaction, you know which food.

And then some people just can't have some foods after surgery...lettuce may be in that group for you.
