On the topic of food...cold food bums me out!

How do you all get around cold food?

Tonight hubby made some sauteed chicken. I pulled out 2.5 oz, threw it in the bullet, and pureed it half to death. I am eating it at a nice slow pace, and i am not even halfway thru it and it's stone cold. I can nuke it, but dont want to dry it out.

Am i sentenced to cold meals forever in the name of safe eating, or do you vets have tricks you can share?

Try heating the plate before you put food on it. Good luck!

It is called gravy or sauce of some sort.  You do not need a whole lot.  That way when you reheat, it stays moist.  Good news is eventually you should be able to eat quicker as time progresses post-op.  Another trick is to boil some water and put it in a soup bowl.  Place a warm snack plate on top and then place the food on top.

I have a device I have never used.  It is for coffee or hot drinks but they make them plate size as well.  I really don't even know why I bought it, I rarely drink hot liquids.  ;o)  No coffee, tea, etc.  Point being, they make them larger as well and you could put your plate on that, it keeps your plate warm, your plate keeps your food warm.

To be honest I don't really care about cold food, never did even pre op.  But it really is something you tend to get used to.

I have always had issues with chicken, especially if it is cold. It has to be very moist, not over cooked or nuked. I do alot better with ground beef. But currently, no meat is sitting to well with me. It doesn't appeal to me and I am crossing back over to the vegetarian side.

Try putting greenbeans or some other veggie that is soft in when u chop it up, will help keep it moist. Good luck!!!
