How do you define success?
Some people start off weighing 400 lbs and lose 200 lbs. They are happy having lost 200 lbs. relative to where they started. They are okay with not reaching a goal weight and may still be at a high BMI but to them, they have come a long way. They do not have a consistent nutrition and exercise program.
Some people start off weighing 400 lbs, lose their weight, hit a goal weight, and work very hard to maintain their goal weight through nutrition and exercise. They maintain their goal weight and are at a healthy BMI and have been that way for many years.
How do you define success for yourself? Have a great day!
I agree with meeow2. I know I am a BIG success wih weight loss surgery> I have posted two posts on this Forum, one of them I hhave posted my "before & after" and one other picture in the post, the other post it is with my weight (highest, pre-op, lowest, current). I am one of many success with weight loss surgery. I am still on my journey to a new and better me.
Highest Weight: 565 pounds (around 1999), Highest BMI: 94
Pre-op Weight: 476.40 pounds (2 weeks before {05/25/2010} VSG surgery), Pre-op BMI: 79.3
Lowest Weight: 153.5 pounds (as of 07/10/2013), Lowest BMI: 25.5
Current Weight: 350.75546 pounds (351 lb 0 oz./159.1 kilograms (as of 04/22/2019), Current BMI: 58.3
While I do have a very long way to go, I feel successful in a way that I've lost 164 lbs, with about 108 of that coming before surgery. However, I'm the kind of person that would not be satisfied 100% if I weighed 200 lbs. Would I be happy? Yes! Will I feel successful, sure! BUT, I want a goal of a "normal" weight and BMI so badly that I can taste it and even if I have to keep trying until I'm 100 years old... that will still be my goal!!
