I am so excited to start this journey and would love to talk to others.  I have 2 options...RNY or the sleeve and know very little about either.  Dont know what the entire process is or the psych evaluation?  Anyone here have theirs dont in New Brunswick? And what is pre and post op like? So many questions...but so stoked!!!

Well I'm not in your area, but I'm having the sleeve done in 8 days.I pretty much researched each procedure before making my decision. I am an insulin dependant diabetic and felt this one was the best for me. Congrats on your decision and I can't wait to hear about your success!!!

Congratulations!  There are pros and cons for both, but it all comes down to your physical health, age,  and preference.  No one can tell you which surgery to have.  I had the sleeve because I am young and I had a fear that I might have health issues as I'm older, so medication absorption was a big deal for me.  Also, I didn't have any conditions such as diabetes that also factor in to the decision.

The psych evaluation is simply to find out if you are mentally capable of taking care of yourself after surgery.  I haven't met anyone who hasn't passed.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask, but make sure you do your research on the types of surgery and what would work best for YOU.

The psych evaluation was easy.  I had to take some tests, and then to talk to the Dr.  He cleared me for surgery.  I also had to do a sleep study test to rule out sleep apnea.  I am glad I don't need to do another one of those. I did not care for it.  I don't have sleep apnea.

My next appointment with the NUT is next Tuesday, and hopefully only two more after that, and I can submit my papers.

I also needed a letter of clearance from my PCP. They surgeons office should give you list of what you need to do over the next few months to get ready.
