What's Your Workout Today OHers? - Wednesday!
I'm only allowed 45 minutes of exercise per my doctor so will do 25 minutes on the treadmill at 4.3 mph speed and 3 to 5 percent incline and a 20 minute strength training video too. I am walking 3 miles Saturday in the Walk Against Diabetes. I can't run as I habe knee replacements but love my walkS!
Sounds like a pretty good workout. Have you considered doing intervals when you walk. Basically maintain the same speed but do like a 15% incline for 30 - 60 seconds followed by 5 to 8% for like 3 mins then down to 1 for a min, then repeat that. What happens when you do intervals like that is your heart rate jumps all over the place and it revs up your metabolism. If you wear a heart rate monitor you will see that you actually burn more calories even though some of the time you are going lower than you normally do. I do a 20 min interval run a couple times a week. I burn more calories in 20mins than I do 45 mins of straight jogging.
