So my hospital is an hour away and I have been wanting to go to a support group. I found one near me from a different hospital. It was a positive experience. They have a quest speaker each month. This month it was a PT guy and he gave some great information about building your core and how our balance can be off after weight loss. It was a very supportive group of people. I started helping someone who had sleeve and has been stress eating. I have worked in mental health for 11 years and taught classes for five of them. They liked what I was saying and suggested maybe I be a guest speaker. I will see I have some great ideas for them. I just wanted to share that this was a good support group experience. I hear so many bad ones.

Hi,

Have you considered becoming a support group leader?  We could always use more.  There are not enough to meet the needs.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Yes I have thought about it. I facilitated groups on coping skills for mental illness for five year to adults with mental illness. I would still be doing it but I changed positions so that I was 4 miles from home instead of 32. I am looking into starting a gym catering to bigger people and bariatric patients and thought if I did I would offer free groups once a month or so to members.

That is totally awesome.  There is a wonderful bariatric wellness center in Raleigh, NC and I wish there were hundreds more!!
