Most have said what my reply would be but I figured since im 10yrs post op. At my heaviest I was 475. Im a female that is 6'4 have have maintained my weight at 210. I just wanted to add on the drinking part not specifically for you (since you said you rarely drink) but for others how may come across this. I did not drink alcohol prior to surgery and didn't feel inclined to until I lost most of my weight which happened within the first yr. I slowly increased my intake of alcohol preferring that over meals. At the time of surgery and after I attended support group provided by the bypass facility and they never talked about the dangers of becoming addicted to alcohol once food was no longer avail. I dont regret having my surgery but I wish I could have been more aware and maybe sought more support in that area. I battled the drinking for 5 yrs and have been sober for 5. Knowing the warnings can be helpful in protecting and preparing the mind for the changes that will come.
