PBS did a documentary called "All of Me" and you can watch it for free, online, without ads, legally, at the link below.  It is 55 minutes.  I didn't find it to be ground-breaking or earth-shattering, but there are quite a few topics that we talk about on OH with some regularity - self-confidence, changing relationships, the difficulty of maintenance...it's worth a watch if you have a spare hour, IMO.  Comments welcome!  I would love to know what y'all think!

The “Girls” have been friends — and morbidly obese — for years. They met via the Austin chapter of the National Association to Advance Fat. Now they’re going through the life-changing process of weight-loss surgery. The experience presents a host of issues and consequences — some they knew they were in for, some they feared, and some they never could have imagined.   http://video.pbs.org/video/2365190806/

Just finished watching it...Pretty good show.  I'm 7+ years out (RNY).  As the years go by, I just try and take each day one at a time (WLS wise).  Over the years at the support groups and on OH it seems that those who have long term success are the ones who guard what they eat "and" find some kind of exercise.  I know it sounds like a cliché, but I see it over and over.  I am not a poster child for WLS.  To WLS surgeons I would be called a success.  I fight daily with what I eat and do penance for the wrong choices by exercising...

That's awesome and that is EXACTLY what I am trying to set up at 4 months out.  I log every bite in MyFitnessPal and if I have a little more calories at dinner, I make sure I have less at lunch.  I am also going to my gym 4 or 5x a week and 3 of those times are with a trainer.  I know it's going to be a daily fight.  Congratulations on being successful seven years out.  That's really incredible.  You must feel really healthy and happy to know that you have control over your food demons :)

It's weird that Guy, or maybe it was Marty, (a husband of one of the women) is complaining about how his weight loss has been derailed and it seems like he could so easily take advantage of the diet his wife is now on and use that to his advantage!

One last post.  Zsalyn's story bothers me.  She had saved all this money for WLS, but her super abusive husband talked her into spending it on a house instead.  She's lucky that she was accepted for My 600 Pound Life!  I really hope that she and her husband will divorce - or, even better, do therapy and find significant success with that and live happily ever after.  But I don't think that's possible with him.  :|

OMG I hear you - I thought a lot of the relationships were sad, and the unsupportive husbands as well.  These poor women who hook up with these men who have fetishes and are unwilling to see that the change is for the woman to get healthier :(  Zsalyn was a terribly upsetting story and I did see her on My 600 Lb Life - thank god she got accepted.  Who would buy a house over a life-saving surgery?????  Ugh...

Glad you got a chance to watch this!  I'm glad I could find it online because I read an article about it on NYTimes and then never found it on the channel guide.  Score 1 for internet!  LOL

Have a great weekend!
