RNY and estrogen hormone replacement
Had a OB/GYN appointment this past week. I was discussing my menopausal issues with my doctor. She felt that my issues were enough to disrupt my "quality of life". True that. Hot Flash Hazel, among a host of other issues..... The doctor put my on an estrogen gel that I rub on my arm from wrist to shoulder everyday. Because I went thru "natural menopause", meaning all of my female organs are still intact, I also have to take progestren (sp.) to protect said organs from cancer. Has anyone else gone on hormone replacement after RNY? Just wondering if there is anything I should be aware of?
HW 282 SW 270 GW 160 CW 150I'm riding this ***** out the natural way too. It's taken about 5 years but I rarely flash these days, and I take a tiny dose of Effexor to deal with the anxiety and insomnia etc.
For me, hormone replacement had too many risks for the symptoms I was getting - no need to suffer as symptoms can be managed individually.
I am 11 years out and the only downside to menopause has been the slowing of my metabolism - I need less and less calories each year to maintain and it's a bit of a Rollercoaster getting the balance right.

I was taking Hormone replacement before RNY and am still taking it. I take the bio-identical creams. I am happy I am on it... my GYN said I might need more estrogen as I lost weight as fat cells produce their own estrogen. I have needed a little more, but not too many changes.
