Had VSG and love it.  And spend each day on VSG board and have not found a horror story yet.  It has been 2 months and lost 35 pounds.   Hope that helps!!!!! I love my sleeve.  The best thing I have ever done for myself. Hugs

I had VSG 2 months ago.  Love it !!!  It is the best thing I have ever done for myself.  I almost had lapband.  But in the time I was trying to get insurance approval I spent alot of time on the Lapband board.  Scared the crap out of me.  So so so many problems.  And many serious ones.  Then I found out about VSG.  It is perfect for me no malabsortion or moving things around just a tiny tummy.  It is great.  2 months and I have lost 35 pounds and love it.  You can eat just tiny portions.  Things do not get stuck or anything. Just my humble opinion. Hugs

Come to the DS board and post that question there are several ladies there who have gone to Brazil or Spain
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

I had a VSG in 01/2006 and have lost 230 lbs after PS.  There are two negatives that I can think of with this surgery.  The first would be if the surgeon is too aggresive and leaves too small a "banana".  This could cause serious problems as you would not get enough nutrician.  The second problem is a similar problem to all WLS....the ability to regain weight.  As this surgery has no bypass (hence less complications) every bite/calorie counts.  Good luck with you decision .  I knew I would not be able to live with the restrictions of a Gastric Bypass.

it sounds like to me that you are dealing with issues with food that you did not know you had.  we are supposed to eat to live, not live to eat.  go to a counselor!  or a psychiatrist.  they can HELP.  you can be addicted to food the same way you can be addicted to drugs. I know, i was addicted to both.  and when i got sober, the first stage that i went through was boredom and depression.  it is totally normal.  you have to retrain your brain. i noticed you also said that you can no longer take care of your husband, and that was your only purpose. WRONG. your life is yours.  if you are depending on someone else for your happiness that something is wrong.  you are not giving yourself enough self value.  you owe it to yourself to get health and happy.  can you imagine how productive your life would be? dont be afraid to call your doctor and ask them to recommend someone for you to talk to.

Hello,, I had the RNY and I'd do it again,, I woke up from surgery and never felt any pain or discomfort,, actually,, when I saw my surgeon,, I asked him why didn't he do the surgery.  He said he did.  Well, I felt great,, I was up and walking a couple hours after surgery,, never felt bad at all.,, and right now,, I can eat anything I want,, but I can only eat two or three fork fulls.  But I'm ok with it.,, I'm never hungry.  I've lost 80 pounds already and I feel great.  You have to do what you think is best for you.  Personally,, I didn't want the lap band,, because I didn't want to get going back to get that long ass needle stuck into my side.

{{{Alyssa}}} I've been following your story on the lapband forum and was afraid to post to you about possibly considering a revision....some people have their heads up their as* as far as the lapband is concerned!
I'm VERY happy I went the revision route and didn't try the band again. Yes, we were both successful at 1st with the band...but I truely believe that the "product" that was installed in us is EVIL!! I should ask my GI doc for copies of my endoscopy pics and post them on here so people can see what the band can do to your insides!! Anyway...if you need to chat...just PM me!
