Topic: RE: RA pain
I have RA for about 7 yrs, I also have ostio and psoriatic arthritis. I was on Humira for 18 months over 2 yrs ago, but lost my vision in one eye, I have since regained about 75% back. I am on Metho, and Rituxan infusions and my pain is still pretty bad. I had lap band on 5/6/9 and so far have lost 19 lbs. I walk and that is really all my body can handle at this point...

Topic: RA pain
First off I want to say I am so excited that I found this forum-- I've been on OH for a while now and had no idea this was even here!

I had my sleeve on March 20th and ever since my surgery I've been inflamed all over! Even after starting all my meds up again. I feel constantly uncomfortable-- no major flare ups just inflammation everywhere.  I'm on humira, methotrexate & piroxicam-- which before really kept me out of pain (except occasional flare ups every other month or so).  I thought 46lbs off of my joints would help. It's been really hard for me to exercise with all this pain-- which is making me stall! GAH haha I have been swimming which is pretty much the best exercise EVER anyways but I don't have much motivation because of the pain.

Does anyone else have RA here?

Cindy-

I only use it on my knees, and they're covered ALL the time!  Haven't had the benefit of reconstructive surgery yet, so my legs will be covered until then, which is a long way down the road.

Jazzbabe , I live in Fl. and being in the sun is a big part of my life . We go to the beach and do things outdoors alot  . Probably, if the area is coverd for short periods of time maybe it won't hurt . Ask your Doc. about it . I use it on my neck , spine , arm , shoulder and right knee only at night or when I know I am not going to be in the sun and I don't use it everyday . I probably should but I don't . Here lately I'm having trouble sleeping because I can't get comfortable so know I will have to use it more often or get another treatment . Funny thing is I don't hurt that bad during the day  when I am active . As long as I'm moving I'm not hurting . Glad that it works for you and hooray ! on the 91 lb. wt. loss and not having to use your cane ! That is wonderful . Gook luck and keep up the good work your doing great ! ~ Cindy

Topic: RE: Torn Meniscus?
Bless your heart ! I know how you feel . I have OA in my right knee but had an MRI done and had to have the meniscus on both sides removed, that was in "05" . My Doc said my weight had nothing to do with it... hard to believe.... but he said it was caused from some injury I had in the past but losing weight has seemed to help . I still have a little pain { not all the time and I still can exercise without pain most of the time } and my knee stays  swollen and pops but its nowhere near the pain I had before the surgery . My PCP prescribed Voltaren Gel { for my OA } and I use that on my knee when it gets unbarable . I did not like the MRI either but it was worth getting it done and over with . Good luck ! ~ Cindy

I agree  it does work fast ! I have Osteoarthritis   and my Dr. prescribed it for me . It really works good but the downside for me is you aren't suppose to get in the sun while your using it and I like being outside . I guess a lot of medication is like that though .

Topic: RE: Bad knees and Hep C!
Hep C will not prevent you from having WLS. If you ever do need a liver transplant (God forbid) it would be much better for the weight to be off.

Topic: Pain meds
What kind of pain meds do you all take for pain..I have severe arthritis in my hip and knee..shoots down to my toes. I wa**** by a car about 30 years ago and have severe pain esp when its going to rain. I take oxycodone when needed..mostly at night. But it doesn't last long..maybe a couple hrs before the pain returns. I almost hate asking for a script because my Dr said its additive and doesn't want me to be an addict???!! I am in pain..I am in my 50's and don't even drink or smoke. Suggestions?
