I can't speak for what goes on on the B/L, but on the frontline, I say yes.

No one should get a pass. We all need help from time to time. You think the vets would be more encouraging to the newbie, but Hell, they are hard as nails. This is why I rarely post around here. I know my faults and I don't need to hear them 50 times. Now with this being said, I know it is all coming out of love. It's just the approach! We are the young bloods around here and yes we need the truth, but damn some vets are on that Real S***!!!
Yes!!! I want to get it right .

As I said before, the tough love thing doesn't work with everyone.  Some people FIGHT it or run from it.

Others need more of a nurturing hand.  How you approach a person depends ON the person.

(I know my contribution to the convo is late - but here goes....)

I agree - everyone is not receptive to the tough love approach. My daughter (who's 14) is a perfect example. She's the type that has to experience the negative consequences for herself  or she needs time alone to process the information & weigh her options. But you can't just tell her fat meat is greasy & expect her to believe it. (I respect her free will - but will whoop her @ss over flat out defiance & disrespect)

For the most part - all anyone can really do is share their opinion, experiences and insight & then let it go. The additional back & forth will most likely just fall on deaf ears - ultimately resulting in a waste of time & effort..
My name is Keena, I'm 5'11 & I  just turned 34 (in December). & I vowed to myself that it would be the LAST birthday I celebrate fat

I honestly feel that the fact that Treena even put that out there was MAJOR.  I believe I put in my reply that whatever I had to say to her would be between me and her.  Regardless of what is was, a public lynching ...in my opinion...was not needed.  That would apply to anyone who exposed themself in that way....a vet or a newbie.

To me, those two instances were totally different.  Maybe that's just my way of thinking...

So, it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that you have an established relationship with Treena?

I'll check back....gotta go to work.

We both know Treena and I have had battles on BAF.....bad ones too!

So this would apply to anyone.  Why kick someone when they are down and trying to get back up?  Ya know.

Well - the same question could be posed for a newbie - why kick a mofo when they just got on the road and don't have a good roadmap?

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......
