I am a very big news fanatic and read news all day long, along with subscribe to my local newspaper. I am ASSUMING others like myself is aware of the big debate in regards to President Obama speech being aired in classrooms across the USA.

I remember as a kid watching Reagan on nationwide tv in the fourth grade in the classroom and saw his attempted assassination after his speech.

It is amazing to me how Republicans will bond together WHENEVER something is not going in their favor and Democrats have remain silent.  And to THINK all this hoopla is about a speech aimed at "Education"  So sad....

i had to shut it down on fb (to some pink folks) regarding this conversation.  we never had a problem with Bush telling our children the benefits of education...oh, wait.  he NEVER DID!!!

i'm just worn out.  they pick at everything Obama tries to do.  not only did Reagan do this same thing but Bush (first) did it as well.  there was no calling the parents to see if they want to opt out.  smh

i got my call from my school corp for my middle schooler yesterday.  my first grader goes to a christian school and i just read the email today.  k-4 will not be shown the broadcast but 5-8 will.  whateva!

Sad thing is when it all boils down it is simply because we have a BLACK president.

I am not like most and throw the race card HOWEVER, what else could it be??

I will stick to my OPINION and say the ONLY reason we have a black president is because of the economy..... Otherwise, it would have been another BUSH in office. Racism will NEVER die in this country sad to say...

I don't have kids so I guess my opinion won' t weigh in as much, but- I remember as a kid watching the swearing in of Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor and having local politicians coming in to speak during assemblies.  I once met Nancy Reagan in school when she was doin her drug awareness program.

No matter where your politcal feelings lie you would think a parent would want the message on the  importance of education to be given to your kids.

My mother always told me "we" are held to a different standard and set of rules than other folks. The best most public example of this is everything Obama does, everything Obama says and everything Obama is.  (and his family)

Racist folks have always had different rules for us. it's sad how they (racist folk) try to justify their position on issues concerning Obama trying so hard to present their opinions as though they are not racially motivated.  (doesn't work)

The demon of racism has been fully awaken and is no longer hidden.  Some pink folk are so afraid that an AA president will turn the table on them.  What they seem to forget is that we are a forgiving people....much too forgiving.  Obama is the president of THE people not SOME people.

It's amazing how no one said any thing when the Bush dynasty was destroying the country but they rally, curse and disrespect Obama's every word and action.

I think it should be shown in the school. Especially our kids  they have something to look forward to because it tells them that yes a black person  could be and is President and they themselves can be president as well. It all about the white man wanting to hold the blacks back.
I'm letting my child watch it in school.

My son is a junior in college I can ONLY imagine my outrage if his school sent a letter home in regards to the "inappropriate" speech...  Although, President Obama was voted into office with the vote of SEVERAL races, I would BET the clothes off my back a percentage of the same people are OPPOSING his speech.....

Ok I don't know everything or anything really about this BUT in listening to the news this morning briefly there are some "things" that have been changed in the speech.  The ONLY thing I caught was that Obama put in the speech for children to write the president and give their input about how things should be done.  It NOW says for children to write about their long term education goals.

OK so when did it become WRONG to be involved of any part of the political process.  There are many of us black white whatever who do NOT participate and while as voters we CAN we don't hardly take the time out to write to our politicians to say what we do and don't like about what's going on.  I applauded the fact that he had that because children are the NEXT voters and if you get them involved early enough in the political process GREAT.

See that's what they don't like.  While we as blacks complain about the politcial process we don't get involved in it.  Obama won because he reached out to EVERYONE...door to door...grass roots campaigning.  He's the man of the people.  This is just a long line in just shameful behavior towards the president.  It's a shame...low down dirty shame...

Doug I watched this video TWICE and had to look at the calendar to make sure this is 2009. I bet other countries sit back and laugh at the USA in regards to how undivided we are.

No RESPECT for the person of authority, simply because of the color of his skin. I really thought for some crazy reason after electing a person of color as President, this country was moving in a wonderful direction.

After viewing this video and reading via on-line It feels like the Civil Rights Movement Days I only read about but NOW I am living it.
