HW - 392

LW - 202

TW - 200

Next GOAL - Onederland!  (So close.... so close... )

Had a busy week at school - my students are having a fundraiser and I'm in charge (ack!) - and I have snacked here and there, but I've also skipped a few meals.  I hate when that happens.  It isn't intentional at all, I just get busy and since I still don't get hungry, I just don't realize how much time has passed since I last ate.  Its the first time in awhile that I've had to make sure I'm getting all of my protein in, but I've been good.

Topic: RE: Liquid/Creamy Diet Phase

I haven't had surgery yet, but I was told to stick with no to very low carbs, fats and no sugars, so that means no cream of wheat, oatmeal, mashed potatoes and only fat free creamed soups.  But, most importantly I was told to stick with high protein items to avoid muscle loss as much as possible. I was told to add protein powder to things that don't have a lot of protein so that I get in at least 60 grams of protein a day.  The rule is protein first.  I'll be using things things like, refried beans with added broth to thin down, High protein pudding using sugar free/fat free pudding mix and adding protein powder, high protein jello, by adding protein powder to some gelatin, low fat cottage cheese and ricotta cheese, blended with some protein powder and thinned out with some milk,  tuna with a bit of greek yogurt and some garlic or onion, blended smooth.    Good luck!

Topic: Liquid/Creamy Diet Phase

Hi everyone!  I was sleeved on Monday 2/8 and I am just trying to think of some different ideas for my liquid and creamy diet phase.  My doctor and NUT gave me different ideas that include: jello, cream of wheat, oatmeal, watered (milky) mashed potatoes, creamed soups, and broth.  Anyone have any other ideas?  I just don't want to get bored with my choices as that is my biggest concerns.

THANKS!

Topic: Time is Moving Too Slow!!!

Hello all,

Brand new to the community and just had my first Dr. visit yesterday.  I'm ready to have my surgery now and get the ball rolling, but I understand the need for all of the prep work.  I have spent way more time than I should have reading posts and just can't wait to be one of the people that can impart my knowledge several months and years down the road.

I will be having a RNY in the next 3 months or so, and until that time, I will be hanging out here; absorbing what you all have to say.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

High weight: 335

Last week: 228.6

This week: 231.9

This week has seen some interesting fluctuations in my weight. My trend is the same, a few weeks of losses followed by a gain or maintain.  This is my gain week apparently, it's the biggest gain I've had so far. My average weight is stable though. Shrug... If this is the case next week I'll reevaluate then.

Topic: RE: Hi! New here... I'm looking into the Sleeve......

I'm still pre-op and my BMI is over 60.  My doctor said DS and RNY tend to have better success rates for those with high BMI's due to the malabsorption aspect, but they're also much more complicated surgeries than the sleeve. It really comes down to your eating habits and what you expect to get out of your 'tool'.  I already completely changed my diet and am very determined to succeed but my main issue is portion control, so my doctor agrees that the sleeve is a great option for me regardless of how high my BMI is. Statistically (at least with my clinic) there's only maybe a 10-20lb difference in the end, so to me it's not worth re-routing my intestines and having to worry about lifelong malabsorbtion/vitamin deficiencies.  Don't allow anyone to force you into getting a different surgery based on your BMI and statistics, you can lose just as much weight with the sleeve as long as you put the work in and follow your plan :)
