Christine, Please don't be afraid. You are doing the very best thing for yourself and your family. The hospital will make sure that you are up and moving about. When you get home, you need to concentrate on getting your water in and slow walking for the first few weeks. You will be okay, and a year from now you'll be a whole new you!

Topic: Approved for Surgery and Scared Out of My Mind
I finally got my surgery date of August 8th! I have decided to have the Sleeve procedure. However my mind has not stopped racing since I set the date. I have never had surgery and I am scared to death that something will go wrong. I keep hearing about embolisms and because I live a sedatary lifestyle I am assuming I am at a greater risk. Also I am nervous about post surgery procedures with my Type I Diabetes. I have read several posts on this website and have had many of my questions answered. However I just can't keep my mind to stop. I have a wonderful 4 year old son and I am terrified that something will happen and that I won't see him or my husband again. Just looking for support and reassurance.

My A1C was 8.1. My surgeon would not perform the surgery until I got it lower. It took six week,s but I was able to get it down to 6.1 and he performed the surgery.

It's temporary. They pump you full of so many fluids that MANY people end up leaving the hospital weighing more than when they went in. It has nothing to do with what you did or didn't eat. Heck, by the date of your post, I'd bet you've seen most (if not all) of that little gain disappear by now already.
Topic: RE: Insulin Pump Supplies- what do I do with all of them?
Thanks a good idea Liz. I said I was going to put my pump on eBay more for symbolic reasons as apposed of " profit" but I think I will use your idea instead. Haven't had surgery yet so I'm hoping that after I do the pump comes off....well see.
Topic: RE: When will my blood sugars be normal
I just want to say that i am 3 weeks out today and this surgery has done a total 180 on my life.. I was on a insulin pump that needed to be filled 2 times a day = 600 units plus i was U 500 and i took up to 30 units or so a day of that and for every 10 units it = 100 units of insulin so i was up to about 800 units a day and i was taking oral meds too... I had surgery on June 29th and the next day i was off all my meds and i was takin off my pump... I take 15 units of lantus @ bedtime and i wake up with a fasting blood suger of 120-140. I am feeling great and should be off all my insulin with in a few weeks. This was the main reason that i had this surgery done.
Topic: RE: Victoza
I have also take victoza, havent lost any weight with it but it does lower my blood sugar and actually makes me feel full. I think I havent had the weight loss like most people because of all the insulin I take ( despite what my doctor thinks, I dont think insulin has made me fat, but I do think it has hinder my weight loss)
