I am one of the lucky ones and didn't have any comorbidities before surgery but my husband is thinking about it and I want to be able to tell him or show him that his comorbidities will go away (hopefully).  Does anyone have a link with a list?  He has sleep apnea, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  He is 5'11 and weighs 285.  According to the BMI table he needs to lose 100 lbs.

Sleep Apnea, High BP, Diabetic Pre op

Less than one month out.....Off my meds for High BP and Diabetes.  I took my BP last night, it was 106/74 pulse was in the 70's  My BP was at its lowest 135/85 with a pulse of 91 pre op.  I almost fell out of the chair with my numbers last night!!  My cholesterol was creeping higher pre op, now it is fine!!  And the sleep Apnea, I sleep ALL night long!!  I don't get up in the middle of the night, I don't go to the bathroom in the middle of the night either!!!

These are just my own personal experiences.  Obviously not everyone will have these results..............unless they have a DS!!!!!!!

There are never any problems, only solutions.  quoted by a dear and special friend!!!

My stats:
Starting weight 234 lbs    Height 5 ft 6 in
Goal in 7 months (127 lbs)
Currently: 120-123 lbs
Tops Small   Bottoms size 2!!!!

I had all three of those, plus a couple others, and now I have none.  My cholesterol went from the 300+ range down to 90 (as of last month).  My CPAP was set to 13, as I had Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  Haven't had to use it since 6 months out of surgery.  I was taking 3 different hypertension medications.  Now, I take vitamins.

Here is a thread about how the switch portion alone is a cure for type II diabetes:

HTH,

Someone gave this link about type II diabetes:

http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=diabetes+surgery+ duodenal
This is a listing of clinical trials in progress for curing diabetes with what they are terming "duodenal exculsion" surgery. A couple say gastric bypass but I don't think that's what they really are.
