What if I make a paste out of the protein powder?
Maybe I'm a big weirdo, but I LOVE, REALLY LOVE my protein shakes! I drink the chocolate flavor of the Champion Nutrition Pure Whey stack, it's AWESOME!!! I drink it 4-6 times a day and look forward to each and every shake. The paste idea is good in theory, not so sure it will work post-op though. I mix my protein with anywhere from 4-8 oz of water and 1 and a 1/2 scoops of protein powder. I'm due for another now....yumm!!!!

Brok suggested and I tried it... protein Popsicles. I made up some orange cream Chike protein shake and froze it. Both Son#2 and I like them, and Son#2 doesn't like any of my protein shakes or bars.
I also love my IDS vanilla-cinnamon protein coffee every morning. The directions are on my profile.

For once, I can honestly say, like Lori, I do not mind the shakes at all. It depends on which ones you have tried. I bought sample packs from www.vitalady.com and www.unjury.com and did not even try them till after I came home from surgery, as tastes will change so no matter if I liked them or not presurgery, it would certainly be the opposite after surgery. All I order are sample packs, well so far, and then like someone else said, you are not left with a big ol tube of anything. I am thinking of getting a couple of big tubs now, but not sure yet as I like variety. I just love the small sample packets. I am surprised Lori did not mention the champion nutrition banana scream. It is honestly one of my favorites, and not being chocolate, that says a lot for me. All the other ones I buy are some sort of chocolate or other, except for the BSN dessert packets, the cinnamon one is great too.

I think I tried that too. I'm just too picky of an eater to stomach a paste. I'm a BIG Gladiator brand Protein powder promoter. Matter-o-fact, I don't know what I would have done after surgery had it not been for Smoothie King and the Gladiator smoothie. I got my shake down to a science now, whether I'm buying a shake at the store or making it at home. It tastes like one of the orange push up pop sicles.
I mix in two scoops of the powder (vanilla flavor), about half cup of water and about half cup of the Bright-n-early brand frozen orange drink mix. I put in a cup of ice and blend for about 30 seconds. You can also add a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
The concentrated orange drink really does a good job of masking the protein powder taste. You would never think you're drinking a 45 gram of protein shake.

I have never tried it (am planning to) but you can make protein ice cream too. Someone named "egg face" has a blog and has protein ice cream recipes on it.
I've been trying to eat my major protein.....sometimes I make it sometimes I just come close. But I haven't been using shakes (although I have a huge container of Vanilla Champion Whey Stack) and I've never used a bullet.
When I have made shakes, I put a little no sugar added jam in them to make different flavors. That works well. In the beginning (around week 3 or 4 ) I ate a lot of adkin's peanut bars. I got sick of them after a while.
I used the 30-60-90 rule....30 g. protein by 30 days, 60 by 60 days, 90 by 90 days. So far, I haven't had any hair fall our or anything. I'm going for my labs tomorrow so I guess I'll see how I'm doing then.
