If so,did you switch?I currently take Optimum whey chocolate and LOVE,LOVE hte taste, but the effects are going too much.

Are you mixing it with milk?  If not, it may just be the formula that brand uses. I can't do a lot of Champion Nutrition but am fine with IDS.

Optimum has more concentrate (lactose), even tho it is still low lactose, in the scheme of things.

Champion is a blend, too. Most get a few poofs of gas, not so many get the sharts issue.

IDS is an isolate, or was, and so has the least lactose.

Now, most and least lactose in these 3 is infintesimal, but for some ppl, that speck of a % is enough difference.

some people just cant do whey and have to switch to either soy or egg white protein. but i recently found out that if you are taking thyroid meds, you should do soy. hope you find something you can tolerate well soon.

I thought people with thyroid issues should avoid soy...  no?

Whey is a lactose product, and you may be intolerant of it.  Try another brand or two, and if you get the same effect, try next something soy or egg based and see what happens.

rhonda C.-

Try a brand that uses whey protein isolate.

I was using Nectar (fuzzy navel) immediately after surgery, and 48 hours later, I was admitted with severe dehydration.  The DS made me Super lactose intolerant.
Whey is the liquid poured off of cheese during the cheese making proces, and it contains the lactose from the milk that was used..

That is why many who are lactose intolerant can eat cheese, because it contains very little, if any lactose.
