When will the hair loss stop and start growing again

Well,

I read about it happening and hoped I could pass it by but my hair has been getting thinner the last few months (months 4 and 5 of my surgery).  I think it has stopped coming out but it is becoming a struggle to style my hair so that my scalp doesn't show.  First time in my life I have ever had this problem!!  I had always had thick hair and never worried about it before.

I can deal with this for the sake of getting healthier but does the hair loss stop and when does it start growing back? and will it ever grown back to the same level again?   I am thinking wigs at this point.

Worried..

Mine started at 4 months and ended at 8.  As it fell out, it started to come back . . . it's in great shape now, although with more wave than it was :)

I don't think mine has started coming back.  However, I have a rash that itches around my hairline at my neck.  I have been taking Biotin hoping it will help new hair growth. How long did it take to completely come back.

I was the same as Mary, it stopped at 8 months out, and grew back with a vengence!

hi there...I  am with you in the same situation.. I cut  my mid shoulder length hair to an A line short bobish cut.... I don't know how to put up photos but i will PM once my daughter makes  some time to help me . It is thinning in the front bang  area but as long as i keep it laying low it is not so noticable(in my opinion).... I guess i  have  a couple of more months till it ends???...I feel very self consious(sp?) but i have hope it  will come to  a stop soon.. thanks  for posting...
I did contemplate  ordering a hair piece I seen on HSN  this weekend by Toni Britton line of wigs and clips.  I do take biotin and  use nioxin shampoo.. NO conditioner ..it seems that makes it fall even more INMOP...   i wa**** every 2 days...

Hi Rose... I saw those same wigs on Saturday and thought the same thing.  If you do get one, let me know what you think... the women in my mom's side of the family lose their hair so I feel like needing a wig may be inevitable for me even if I never had WLS.  I have started washing my hair less often, too.  I used to wa**** every morning but now I get too freaked out by what is in my hands and in the drain.  I've been using Toppik fibers to fill in some of the scalp that shows through which I think helps make it look fuller even if its just an illusion.  My hairdresses said that the Nioxin works but I haven't seen much difference but I did cut my hair like you did early on and I think that helps make it look fuller as well.

I don't know when mine started, because I don't get wads of hair coming out or anything.   But my hair was very fine and thin to begin with and now it's horribly thin.    I was at my hematologist's office and somebody in the office was telling me my hair would grow back - different but it would come back.   We chatted for a minute more before I realized she thought I'd lost my hair to chemo!

I'm thinking about getting a wig, too.

I am hoping I can keep styling.  I won't get so depressed as long as I know it will come back.  I actually tried on a few wigs over the weekend and it really made me realize how thin my hair was getting!!

While you are waiting for your hair to re-grow there is a terrific product by Joan Rivers which is sold on QVC for people with thinning hair.  It helps conceal the appearance of the scalp by temporarily darkening it to match your hair color (it comes in different shades).  It's a powder you apply with a makeup-type brush to the scalp.  It washes out with shampoo.  The stuff really works!  I bought it for my daughter who has a problem with thinning hair and when she uses it you cannot tell.
