I admit it. I'm starting to get concerned about something. I'm three weeks postop as of tomorrow, and I'm not able to take my vitamins.
I have the BA Chewables with ADEK that were recommended by my NUT pre op, but I cant get them down, They make me gag no matter how hard I try to get them down. I'm the person who can sip protein shakes all day, but I cant handle these vitamins. They just break apart all dry and crumbly and the taste and texture makes me sick.
I ordered the daily schedule of vitamins as recommended by Vitalady, but dont have them yet. So my question is at this point how concerned should I be that I havent had my vitamins yet?
Thanks
Joanne

I DESPISE chewable anything! Even chewable C texture freaks me out (though I'm working through that issue right now lol). I attempted to cut my chewable multi with a pill cutter and it crumbled even with just trying to cut it in half. I gave up and went to non-chew multis because my hubby promised he'd use up the chewables so they wouldn't go to waste. Personally, I think you're probably o****il you get your Vitalady order in, since that's probably only about a week. BUT, I'm clearly no vitamin guru and I'm definitely flying by the seat of my pants here.

Ugh! I HATED those things. I would stick it in the side of my mouth and wait for it to dissolve, which took hours. Really made me wonder how absorbable they really are. If you have already ordered your stuff from Vita Lady, you will probably be O****il it arrives. Those tiny little "dry" capsules are a breeze. A certain amount of non-compliance is expected in fresh post-ops and you won't completely ruin your health in a matter of a few weeks. (I AM NOT A HEALTH PROFESSIONAL>)
Hi Joanne,
I couldn't swallow pills till I was 3 months post op.(most people are in the same boat) I took the Centrum Fort chews, BA lozanges (did give me gas), Vitamin A & D3's are small I didn't have problems with that I started taking it 3 months post op. It took me 6 months to be able to swallow a calcium citrate pill. I take 10-12 a day and have no problems now --- I've heard the BA ADEK is not what DSers should take it's better to take each individually.
My blood labs were bad pre-op and I'm now catching up. If your blood labs were good pre-op you have stores to help you for a few months but by 3 months you should be on the schedule and taking all the vitamins. Keep trying to get them in and one day they will go down easy.
I use to sip all day on my protein drinks too.
Good luck

Same boat here. My doctor gave me the BA chewable vit and calcium chews. I can take them ok with a drink of something afterwards to get the taste out of my mouth. My Vitalady order came in, but I have not tackled the chore of seperating them out.
My doctors office seems to think the BA and calcium are all I need... so I figure I will be o****il I feel comfortable swallowing pills.
Still not on solids all the time yet. Sometimes my tummy feels "sore" so I go back to liquids.
