X-post, I love my DS and I am thankful for the RNY'ers and DS'ers.
I just wanted to post this here, because I know some people don't like to go to the main board. lol. I didn't see a post by Diana today about the DS on the main board, so I posted my little DS pay it forward thingy.
Hello all,
Well I had my DS about 4 months ago, and before I ever had wls all I had known about was the gastric bypass and the lapband. I was denied the rny and told to lose 100 pounds first. If I could of lost the 100 pounds all by myself I wouldn't need wls.
So I came here to OH, crushed, hopeless and scared. I made a post about what I should and could do.
The other day (now I am 4 months out) I went and took a look at my first ever post here on OH, and that was in December last year. I remember posting and feeling like there was nothing left for me to do.....I felt like the RNY was my last option and I couldn't even get that.
Now that I have been here on OH for a while and I know people and what surgery they had, I just wanted to say thank you to all you RNY'er and DS'ers who had advised into looking into getting the DS!
I for one am Very thankful for all the "surgery wars". They get the word out about the DS and all its wonderful information. The "wars" can get ugly sometimes but thats just how things go.
I love my DS and I am glad that I was denied the RNY. I traveled all the way from Alaska to Brazil to have my surgery and I am very glad I did. It has been an amazing journey so far and the DS'ers have been nothing but supportive. They are very passionate people who have such big hearts. They have been nothing but kind to me.
I understand that some people tend to be "afraid" or "worried" to post on the DS board. My advice is, DON'T BE! If you have a question, ask it! If you need help, ask for it! Don't be scared, its only the Internet. You shouldn't take what is said so personally!
To conclude, I just want to thank everyone for telling me about the DS, and for being there for me when I needed help. Thank you everyone on the DS board, for being there for me! And thank you to you RNY'ers who help get the word of the DS out! You guys are amazing.

You have such a beautiful spirit, Jessy. That's all; I just wanted to tell you that :)
~ I am the proud wife of a Guatemalan, but most people call me Kimberley
Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.

And, ladies and gentleman, this person is 17 years old. If I was as smart and savvy as her at that age, you all would have MY portrait on the 100-dollar bill of the "United States of Nicolle." I would rule the goddam world if I were her. Go, Jessy, go!

Jessy, I know I havent posted here often lately and its posts like yours that I just cant pass by! You are truelly an inspiration to each of us as well as many have been to you. Such a young tender age and such knowledge! You carry into your life a true mentorship for many youth out there that there is hope! That there are answers to your prayers. As I have told you before, you are such a beautiful role model for not only our Native youth, but for many others to come. You did this with your whole heart! You fought hard and fierce to get to where you are and its only going to get better! Be as proud of yourself Jessy as I am of you!
