Looks like I was speaking too soon when I said I hadnt had any problems with pain or nausea since my surgery. Pain isnt a problem for me, but 4 days ago nausea set in. I pretty much have it every waking minute of every day, although the Zofran Rx I have takes the edge off of it.
I'm not vomiting, although I feel like I could if I let myself. My diet hasnt changed (still bland soft foods like cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, and protein shakes).
No fever, pain.
Dont think I'm dehydrated, I've been getting in my 64 oz and I'm not dizzy or anything else. Although I have been wondering if I should space out my fluids. I tend to get my 64 oz in batches instead of small amounts throughout the day. Not sure if it matters.
So, is this sometihng that just comes with the territory and I have to work through?
Is there anythng you all suggest to help manage it better?
Thanks, Joanne

For me, the best way to keep down on nausea was to eat frequent small meals. I tried to eat every two hours, even if I wasn't hungry, even if I still felt full. Keeping food in my tummy seemed to really be the answer, when I was religious about keeping food in the nausea went away. It doesn't have to be a lot. A piece of string cheese, a little cottage cheese, a protein shake, whatever. Even a handful of grapes was better than having an empty tummy.
Hope you feel better soon, Joanne!

Hi Joanne!
What about an acid reducer? Are you taking one?
If not, they help with the nausea also.
Your new tummy has been cut, sewn and much smaller, as you know, but it continues to produce acid which is totally irritating to your stomach.
Feel better!
Michele

Ditto Lori about the frequent small meals, and Michele about the acid reducer! I think you should definitely drink frequently too. Getting in all of your water at once might be part of the problem.
Our systems are just so temperamental at this stage. Keep at it, try all these solutions and if they don't work, try them again in a week because then they just might. The dragon who lived in my stomach had multiple personalities.

You know, Val, I thought I was...I'm definitely getting in about 64 oz, but maybe it's not enough? I would have thought I'd be feeling so much better by now than I do. I made an appointment with my PCP tomorrow AM and will see what he says. My surgeon is over 3 hours away, but luckily they've worked well together.
