Whoever suggested the match in the bathroom -- Thanks! It really works!

I don't know why this is true, but it really, really works!  I've been struggling, as most of us do, with the poo/smell issue.  Someone suggested to light a match in the bathroom to get rid of the smell.  I didn't think something so simple would really work, but I tried it... And it really works!

I looked up on the internet why, and it said when you light a match it releases carbon dioxide, and when you smell it, it only takes a little, then your sense of smell only smells that.  So it doesn't really eliminate the other odor, just pushes it to the side.  I don't know, and I don't care as long as it works.  I still spray a little just to be safe, but now I have a box in each bathroom and a small box in my purse, so I am ready for any emergency!

Thanks again!

You're welcome just make sure you have put the match out before dropping it in the bowl...I don't want to be responsible for blowing your bum off!

Hmmm..I thought it was sulfur...like the smell of sulfur dioxide from the matches takes over the room.

I think I'm going to try that too ..  Does it have to be a full kitchen-size match, or can it be one of those smaller ones?    Will a book of matches-size match also work?

My only worry is that this is also commonly a way that grass smokers cover up their cannabis smell in a room afterwards (so I've heard    )   With my luck, someone at work would accuse me of being a pothead upon smelling the burnt match odor.     (but then I guess that's why the follow-up spray with Oust, Nutra-Aire, or some such product is needed, right?)

I bought a few boxes of wood matches, but I guess any would be OK.  Try the book and see.  I bought 12 small boxes of 32 matches each for $1.19 at the grocery store, but  bet you could get them even cheaper somewhere else.

Good Luck!

I'll have to try it - I hear people say it works all the time.   I haven't really tried it because the "Myth busters" busted that as not working.   Maybe it doesn't work for them, but it occurs to me that our DS is a whole different breed of stinky.   I wonder if the wooden matches would work, or if it has to be the paper ones?

Has any body heard anything about that, or done any experimentation with that?

Me, me, me....I have found that the wooden matches do work better than the paper ones.  It is not just that they burn longer because I have tried using 2 paper matches  to equal one wooden match.  No that's not it.  The wooden ones just have a better smell or something.  But in an emergency use the paper ones if that is all you got.

Too cool, Jenny!   I'll get a pack of the wooden matches!   It will be a lot less expensive than getting the only spray stuff that seems to work for my own particular brand of "aroma."   I discovered Calgon body spray Vanilla just as they discontinued it!
