NUT recommended 120 grams of carbs a day.
Since surgery (three months ago) I've been keeping my carbs under 50, well under 50.
Thursday I went the the NUT for my three month visit and she told me I wasn't eating enough. Especially not enough carbs and wants me to up them to 120 grams a day. She also wants me to eat three meals and three snacks.
The meals consist of 1 oz protein, 1/4 cup vegies, 1/4 cut fruit and 1/4 cup startch. The snacks are all protein, like 1/2 cup cottage cheese or 1 oz of cheese. Then two glasses of milk a day and 8 ounces of juice. No protein shakes. This doesn't seem like enough protein a day. I had been getting in 80-100 a day.
This has made me sad as I don't want to eat that many carbs or that much food. I don't know what to do. Should I go ahead and make myself eat this much or keep on with what I was doing? Is this a reasonable diet for someone with a DS?

Wait. A quarter cup EACH of veggies, fruit and starch AFTER your measly ounce of protein? She's smoking crack with her head up her ass.
You were doing just fine before she made you sad. Keep doing what you were doing, and try some Syntrax Nectar samples from Vitalady. They're not "shakes", you mix them with a spoon, they are almost clear.
At my last NUT visit, I was told that my adding in full fats was a GOOD thing, because I wasn't getting in enough calories. I think that if you aren't getting in enough calories, you might want to try upping your fat intake, not your carb intake.
However, the AMOUNT of food described here is NOT all that much in volume or calories. If you think this is "too much" food, you need to adjust your thinking. The CONTENT of those meals needs to be different, yes.
