It really depends on your surgeon and whether or not he used a silastic ring.  I was eating real food very fast.

I was on soft foods on Days 5-26 before being cleared to eat solids on a gradual basis.

One week after surgery my surgeon said ok to eat regular foods, just make choices and take it slow..  So I went from things like oatmeal, yogurt to protein shakes and have had fish, chicken, cheese, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, ground turkey meatballs and tried beef last night which went down fine.  Whatever you do, take a small bite, chew chew chew and let it sit a few minutes to be sure nothing weird is going to happen.  It's fun getting away from mushy foods!

My doc: liquids from hospital. you're on pureed weeks 2-6. soft week 6-16.

That is all.

ps. Smart folks on the DS forum suggested I modify that. I did.

All depends on your surgeon. Mine had me trying soft foods on my second hospital day. So I was only on liquids the day before & the day after. I went home eating yogurt, soup with bits of meat & veggies. scrambled egg. There are some things at this point which can cause me a bit of discomfort, but I've learned it's more to do with speed & quantity, frankly. I'm still eating soft foods, added in some cheese, etc. I'm to be trying out more meats next week. I did cheat on like my 3rd day home - the kids were having Jeno's pizza rolls, and I had to have one. Probably not wise, but went down so easy - I sucked out the filling!

It depends on your surgeon and his program. Why are you going to Bonanni when his education and followup suck so badly that his DS patients with a clue are warning away from that practice? When that practice has declared that they will actively warn patients with BMI under 50 away from DS because their results suck?

Don't go there. Go to Dr. Peters or Dr. Greenbaum, who have FAR better results and far better patient education and followup than Abingdon does.

I left the hospital cleared by my surgeon to eat whatever I wanted. But for the first 6 weeks or so I lived on chili and refried beans and cheese. Lots and lots of cheese lol
