I'm so glad i found others with same issue. No one else i know suffers from eating Cheerios. N it's every time. I threw the rest outside for the birds. My stomach cannot handle it. It's the most embarrassing issue. N i have had it since Tuesday.

This is exactly why I'm staying away from cereals. Early post op, my eating plan allowed me to try a little bit of grits. Can you believe that? Grits! Stupid me had about a tablespoon which prompted a two day, bloatingly slow death spiral. Never again I said...  but those apple cinnamon cheerios are looking mighty tempting. Anyway, try some Gas X, it might help move things along.

I can tolerate cold cereal, almost any kind of cereal so far but in small amounts and only on "good" days. I've not tried rice crispies or anything rice based because of my huge intolerence of rice.  If I am having a weird stomach/gut day, I don't attempt anything risky. It may have been the sugar part of the "honey nut" that gotcha.
I'll admit that I had what I now refer to as cereal week last week. I had gotten in all my protein all day each day and had .....the Captain with berries ...a bowl a night. This week has been touch and go, so I only tried cereal Mon night and after 2 bites, I knew it was a no-go, so handed the bowl over to DH. Eh.. it is what it is.

Yes, Cheerios are evil for me, too. If you're ever ready to try cereal again, I highly recommend you stick to corn-based ones. I have an unhealthy addiction to Kelloggs Corn Flakes.

But the soy milk alone would have been enough to cause me problems. Soy ANYTHING is evil in my world, even pre-op.

It may change in time. I couldn't eat oatmeal for a long time. Now, I can eat it no problem (Mmm, Honey Nut Cheerios!)

I do find that Digestive Advantage works best for me on trapped intestinal gas. Doesn't work for everybody, but worth a try if you haven't tried it yet.

Well, I had been having a good day and wanted a treat. I love cereal, I knew it was something I wouldn't be able to have all the time but I had seen other people try it as a treat and thought I would see how it went.

I didn't have a problem with Soy before surgery so it never occured to me that it would be a problem. I don't know why it wouldn't have occured to me... DUMB DUMB DUMB!

I was so careful right after surgery to only add one new thing and see how it went, I guess I just went out of my mind and forgot that!

I am finally feeling better, now I just need to get some rest so I can get back on a normal schedule!

I am also really gluten intolerant. Can't do soy but I use a lot of unsweetened Almond Milk.  Rice Chex  is the only cereal I can eat. I use Stevia for sweetener. I call gluten "The Devils Food"

I don't think it's very common, but I do that, too.   I haven't tried Cheerios, I can just tell they wouild not be a good thing for me.   I think soy does a number on me, as well.   I know tofu tends to do.  But there are problems if I have something a bit too much carb OR anything with white flour or even wheat.   At first I thought if I avoided the highly processed white stuff, I'd probably be okay.   But I was wrong.   Whole wheat is just as bad in my system.

But anyway, I get the issues that last a week almost.   I know it's not common, but it's the way I do.   I think that if I only suffered for a day or even two, I'd probably indulge myself more than I do.   I think that my age and the fact that I've had such a messed up metabolism and chronic, horrible constipation before the DS just have my system extra-sluggish about recovering from something like that.  Do you think that might be the case for you?

Don't forget to keep drinking the liquids and walking a lot - that always helps with gas.   If it's not a lot better in another day or two, then I'd suspect something else going on as well.   I hope you feel better soon!

I tried soy milk - the vanilla sweetened with splenda kind. OMG I felt like someone had put an airhose in my arse and inflated me. The almond milk didn't do that but it tasted funny to me, so now I just have cream or half n half (no lactose issues, thank goodness!).

I've not been brave enough to try cereal. Well, let me restate - I haven't wanted cereal badly enough to deal with the fallout. :D

Oh yeah, Cheerios are EVIL!!  I get cravings once in a blue moon for a bowl of Cheerios, and it kills my guts.  Not sure why, but maybe next time I'll try Rice Krispies or Corn Flakes instead to avoid the lour.
