HI Everyone! I was reading some peoples posts and how they wanted there surgeries to be performed before 2011? I'm sorry if I come off as being ignorant, but is there a link or something I can read as why these people are faraid of Healthcar in 2001 and how Obamas plan will affect those not on it?
 Thanks So Much!! :D Aliee

Hi Aliee!

Yes, I got a move on it with my surgery in order to have it done before 2011. I had a feeling that come 2011 our insurance plan would change, possibly excluding WLS.  ** edited**

I'm glad I made the decision to do it this year. We got word last week that my husband's insurance (through BCBS) went up 20% for next year. This is our first rate increase in 4 years. Yea, I'm ticked!

I think it's more of an issue of "I've met my deductible for the year" versus an issue with Obamacare.  I'l limit my response to that since I usually refuse to participate in threads that can quickly become highly politically- and emotionally-charged.  Not much good comes from that in my experience here on the forum.  I always end up losing respect for some I previously looked up to beforehand.  I prefer to remain supportive and informative with a dash of sarcasm here and there to lighten things up.  I know that's it's not your intent to start a political battle, but hang on for the ride.  This could get very interesting. . .

I would say that euphemisms such as Obamacare do a great deal to incite divisiveness rather than dialogue.
Personally, I am very thankful that we have National Health Care after lagging behind virtually every other industrialized nation whose citizens enjoy health care as a right rather than a privilege. As imperfect as it is, I look forward to our program evolving into something very positive. This generation carries the burden of that evolution and all of the complexities that will need regulating and refining, so that our children will not have to.

Due to Obama Care insurance companies are raising premiums and employers are doing what they can to cut out covered benefits that raise those premiums like WLS. My husbands company due to Obama Care has raised the annual deductible and co-pay amount so we can keep the premiums at a minimum. My work has raised our weekly premium for family coverage from $85 a week to $115 a week. We are struggling financially and health care costs are skyrocketing.

If you have not had surgery as of yet I suggest you get scheduled as soon as possible before your insurance company changes your policy.

This is not due to "Obama Care." States regulate insurance rates. This is due to insurance companies trying to eek out a better bottom line, and using health care reform as an excuse to raise rates. The fact that this is happening is an atrocious abuse of power, and I hope that every citizen will flood their State's Insurance Commissioner with a wave of outrage. The only way to prevent abuse is accountability. This is true when it comes to real estate, wall street, and health care.
