Nine day?!  You got off easy, I had to do 14!!!

Regardless I know it really sucks!  I did eat a small amount of very high protein foods when I couldn't take it anymore, like: dry tuna, string cheese, shrimp.  You need to keep the portions small, just enough to keep you from going over the edge and don't do it too much, the point of the liquid diet is to clean all the solid food out of your intestine for surgery.  That having been said, shakes for days on end will make you crazy!  My doc said it was OK if it was small portions of high protein foods, and do not do it a few days before surgery.

Hang in there!  Its a means to an end, and when this is all over, you never even give this a second thought.  Its worth the effort now.

We've all been there!  Good luck!   :)

the preopt diet goal is to reduce the fatty liver which sits over the stomach and has to be lifted out of the way for surgery,,,so depending on your wieght and liver condition that is why u  have preopt diets,   the bowel prep totally cleanse you bowel for surgery,,, two different items

I am supposed to start my 10 day liquid diet on Christmas day!

I think I will be putting it off, and I will have a 9 day liquid diet...

I had my surgery 10/28 last year so Chrismas Eve and Christmas day while everyone was enjoying the feast, I had my shakes!  In the long run, its worth it!

It does get easier Annette! I promise. Try chewing on gum or sucking on some sugar free candy. The first few days were really hard, but after day 3 or 4 I got to the point where I could only drink 2 a day instead of the 4.

Trust me, these shakes are so much easier than the bowel prep you have to do!
