I am really, really trying to drink more protein drinks but this is blechy...

I just made a protein hot cocoa with the Vitalady special blend sample (part chocolate and part vanilla cinnamon) and according to her directions it says add water and then the protein so I did, then the hot cocoa mix, the cocoa mixed in fine but all the protein is sitting on top like little lumps from hell!! I have tried mashing them up with a fork on the side of the cup but I am pretty sure they are breeding like rabbits, there are so many!! I feel like I am chewing this and it's gross.

WHAT DID I DO WRONG??? Help please?

I know I have had the same problem I think you can't have the water too hot or it will lump up on you .. I think I read some place no more than 130 degrees.. I Mix mine with coffee from my coffee maker and usually it is fine. I add the coffee then the cocoa mix first then a tbs of splenda and then the chocolate protein powder oh and I put some powder Creamer too .. Yummm

You have to make a cold slurry with the powder and some liquid, then add it to the hot.  Here is how I make mine...

Put 8oz half&half in large mug.  Place in microwave for 2 minutes.
Meanwhile- take 4oz cold water and 1 scoop Champion Pure Whey Stack Chocolate and put in blender bottle.  Shake, shake, shake to make a slurry.
Once half&half is hot, slowly pour cold water/protein slurry into hot half&half while stirring with spoon.
Drink.

Thanks, I will try that next time.

I kinda of wonder if it was a specific brand of protein... the cinnamon Vanilla is what seemed to clump but the chocolate seemed to melt. Anyone else have any problems with the IDS Vanilla Cinnamon?

I ended up putting it in a blender and it was gritty but no longer lumpy. Will definitely try it your way next time.

I also need to go back and look for the Chai recipe... YUM!

I use the IDS in my protein coffee and protein chai tea- no problems.  As long as I mix it in cold liquid in the blender bottle.  I tried once (when I was in the hospital recently) to just mix the powder in coffee and it got clumpy and gross.  The Champion mixes so well in anything, I can just plop that in and stir to blend it, but the IDS definitely needs to be shaken well to mix.

You nuked it?
you used the "red swtich" on a water cooler?
You made it with espresso?

No hotter than 160 deg. Mr Coffee pot hot is about right. Any sophisticated coffee machines make the water too hot.

160. No more. No luumps.

I have an electric kettle, I poured the water in (1/4 a mug) with the protein powder and hot cocoa and once I thought it was mixed I added the rest of the ho****er. Like I said it was VERY lumpy and I later blended it but that just made it grainy. I will try to make it with cool water next time and see how that works.

Thanks ladies!!

I do it similar to ****** Make a cold slurry of the powder with 4 oz of 1/2 & 1/2 or cream. Shake to blend. I add hot to cold rather than cold to hot to keep the lumps out. No problems with IDS van-cin doing it that way.

I also destroyed it with electric kettle. no way to control the heat. One tester that works for me is to put the water in a cup and try to sip. If it's too hot to sip, it's too hot to mix. Add cold water til it is sipping comfy or a tad lower

My husband always likes have "left over coffee" from the day before.  Mixes it cold.. then nukes the powder/cold coffee mix.  I'm still trying to find Champion in my area at a reasonable price.  My local Walmart and Popeyes don't carry it. :(
