Steve, I take 2000mg per day of calcium apatite. It's supposed to be easier to absorb than citrate. The forms I use (either bone-up or NSI bone booster) also have K2, magnesium, and some other things that are thought to help calcium absorption.

Steve, I take a boat load of calcium citrate. I started out of the gate with 3xday @630mg a dose. I follow my labs and am taken 6xday and night with 3 pills at a time=  945mg of calcium citrate that equals 5670mg. Each dose I take 1 Magnesium oxide 400mg. I also pop 1 calcium Hydroxyapatite, need to take this w/protein.

Some say we can only absorb 5000mg at a time, Some say why not take one more because of our rearranged guts. I passed it by my endo and she  was OK and keep on eye on my numbers. I will be posting my labs in the next few days. It is working for me. Karen
