Iron infusions...how do they make you feel?
It seems I will be having an iron infusion this week.
Last year, during my "surgiversary" labs, my iron was three points from being too high. I was told to only take it once a week, which I did and now, it's tanking!
I suspected something was up due to the sleepiness bordering on narcolepsy, headaches and lighter than usual blood from minor injuries.
I read here that it's no big deal, but since I will be driving myself down, and back home the next day...I'm just wondering if I'm going to feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck!

Yes, I'm having the exact same one you have! I've heard (and read) horror stories about infusions called InFed and Ferrlicit, as well as one called Dextran.
I was told on the phone I'd be there anywhere from one to four hours, depending on what the doctor prescribed.
The hematologist I had arranged in advance to do infusions should I ever need them works with my PCP.
I have problems with localized reactions, but in regard to how I feel systemically, I feel great! You'll probably get a big dose of benedryl before your infusion, that might make you sleepy. Some people complain of an achey or flu-like feeling a day or so afterwards, but I never had this problem.
