Is whole wheat pasta ok...
Hey guys,
like I said in my last email.....I'm trying to get back on the wagon here after falling off for the last couple of years....
and for this post I'm wanting to discuss PASTA....
My favorite food of all!!!!!
I can do without the cookies, cakes and icecream ( infact all sweets....i can do without)...
But....I LOVE TO COOK ITALIAN FOODS (just call be the Godfather!!!!)
anyways......
I've been using regular-refined pasta's (simple carbs)...for my cooking.
Can I use whole-wheat pasta's (complex carbs)....

Have you tried Dreamfields Pasta? I found it at SuperTarget. It has 5g impacting carbs per serving.

Use Dreamfields. But, mind the directions. You CAN NOT overcook it, and can't reheat it either (it affects the matrix they use to "protect" the carbs). Tastes JUST like regular pasta, I use it for parties and everything and no one has ever known the difference. You can buy it in most grocery stores, or order online for some of the more "specialty" pasta cuts (like shells, lasagna, ect).
Another option I use is the Barilla Plus. It is whole grain, has omega-3 and other goodies in it, and a TON of protein per serving. It's still pretty high in carbs, but lower than the traditional white pastas, and with the protein punch, I don't feel guilty eating it. This one tastes more like a whole wheat pasta, but still not a bad flavor at all. And this CAN be reheated.
All in all though, if you are trying to get back to DS basics to kick start weight loss again, pasta (along with sweets, rice, potatoes, breads, carby veggies and fruits, ect) should really not be part of your diet regularly. Maybe one of those selections, in a SMALL portion once a week or so, but certainly not a feature of your meals.

No.
If you are trying to lose weight, you need to restrict carbs.
Cut out pasta, rice, flour, sugar, and potatoes. At the minimum, use a counter and restrict them to less than 50-100 per day.
If you MUST indulge, make it an occasional, once a month treat.
