Does anyone know if the new BCBS of NC will cover the DS?

You can call them they usually will send you or point you in the direction of their written policy. Best of luck in your research.

Request a written copy of your policy, either on paper or online. Keep in mind that if your policy is self-funded, the coverage may depend on what your employer has chosen to purchase, and not on a generic BCBS policy that covers others, so you really need to know the exact details of your policy.

Also, if your plan is fully funded, and bariatric surgery is covered but not DS, this is something you may be able to appeal successfully. But without knowing your policy details, your hands are tied.

I had BCBS of NC 8 months ago and it covered it with BMI over 40.

It depends on which BCBS coverage you have.  I have BCBS Federal and I was covered 100%, I only had to pay a $500 co-pay.  I got the DS.
