WHO MADE THE MAIN BOARD A RNY BOARD, ANYWAY?
ex:i post something about any wls patient, should have a glucometer to be aware of dumping and what they can do with it, and before long some got it all bunched up and made it a ds/vs rny issue, another post i warned that dumping is dangerous because of the consequence of low blood sugar regardless of the mechanism be it dumping or diabetic shock, and before 30min it was a ds/rny post.
I have to say that you aren't exactly neutral in your stance. I'm sure some of the folks saw your post stating something to the effect of "the RNY ought to be outlawed" or whatever it was, and of course they're going to jump all over you.
It's one thing to say good things about your own surgery, but to put down another's is something else. I think that it takes a good balance to acknowledge that there are some folks who do well with the RNY and some folks that do better with the DS...but that doesn't mean that the folks that have done well with the RNY are right and I'm wrong or vice versa.
When we have posting here about how bad the main board is, don't you think there are likely folks from there who check out the boards here and hear DS folks badmouthing RNYs? That tends to destroy credibility or any possibility of it not being an "us vs. them" thing.
Just some thoughts on the subject...I would love to put out the ideas on the DS for those who haven't ever heard of it, but without dissing the folks who have had the RNY! It's a hard enough road to go down from being obese to hopefully being more like a normal person - I think we need all the support we can get from any quarter.

Sorry to break it to you, but because the overwhelming majority of WLS patients have either had the RNY or are pursuing the RNY, whatever board is the RNY board is going to BECOME the 'main board' by default. And no, we DON'T want the RNYers isolated on a 'private' board of their own, because that's where 95% of all newbies would end up. I know that there have been several newbies who, after reading some of those DS vs RNY posts have 'seen the light' and chosen the DS themselves.
Hi
Does anyone watch the Q&A Postings.
That is also a place to catch some who think that the only WLS is the RnY.
There was a question today from a woman that seems to be really afraid that she will not be able to follow the "diet" after the rny and that she will fail. She having surgery on Aug 24th. I'm not good at writing the stuff about the DS but I know some of you are. Isn't there someone else that was going to have an rny and got info about the DS and postponed and changed the surgery to DS?
I just have a gut feeling that she doesn't have all the info that she needs.
I don't know but can someone tell me if they flame on the Q & A Postings?
Elaine
