Welcome to the group !  Check out several Rhuematoligit with in driving distance for you it will be worth it.  I know the feeling that people can not see your pain there for it can not exist.  My family started out very concerned then they started to tire and felt I was taking advantage when this first started.  over the years they have realized it is real and try to support me the best they can.  I do not have to do heavy cleaning anymore and that has helped, I have a handycapped car tag so I can go shopping and walk reasonable distances in and out of stores.  We need to spend our energy like money- making priorties and giving up some things that we can live with out.  I found hot showers work well for pain also daily streaching and the old lamase breathing patterns learned at childbirth classes.  I have spent many hours He He Hoo-ing through chores when I had goats.
see my post about the book I found check you libbrary for it.  I have just started itbut it goes over a lot of things.
Best of luck
Lyn

Topic: Book on Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue
I went  to my Fibro Dr and asked some questions about how she found out about this treatment along with her story on how she got started she tolsd me about Dr Jacob Teitelbaum.  Dr Teitelbaum came down with Chronic fatigue and reasearched the syndrome and found that fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue can be treated.  The improvment rate of this treatment plan is 95%.  The title of his book is From Fatigued to Fantastic copyrite 2007, I purchased  it for $12.95.  at the office.   I think after I read it I will ask my primary Dr if he would like to read it as he is blown away by how far I have come with this program.
My youngest has overwhelming fatigue for the last few weeks and now dizzy and shaky lab test yesterday were "with in normals"  so she is back to the hospital today for more.  Mono has been ruled out I only hope she is not getting CF or Fibro.

Topic: New fibro sisters
It is good to see new names and people on "our" board. We all have to work together to make it through the trials and tribulations of fibro..
It is truly amazing with all the pain we manage to do what we do.
I always start out shopping with all the list in my head I want to go here and there and believe me the actual "doing" is a lot shorting that my mental list. I do get so discouraged but at least I can do some things.

Gentle hugs to all my fibro sisters.

Thank you Dorthe!  Yes I would like to see a rheumatologist soon. Apparently there is a shortage of them around here and your name gets thrown into "a pool" and when one of them decides that they want to see you; then you will be called. lol Do you believe it! To top it off;  they of course send you for a blood test looking for arthritis and naturally they won't find any for fibromyalgia! So they will definitely not be in a hurry to get to you! I think it was last summer when my name got thrown in. lol Looking for new doctor who knows how to deal with fibromyalgia and can maybe get things going and the other tests I need done. Yes; it's really hard not to do what you used to. I went from working in concrete construction, to painting houses and now I work in retail store which involves some lifting; which I'm going to have to give up soon as well. So I was used to hard work for years and pretty much raised my two kids on my own. Thank goodness my parents were around me to help!

Hi Shauna! I think it is wonderful what you are doing for your friend. It is very hard for others to know how you are feeling and hurting and to understand. Your friend is very lucky you are there for her. I hope that in time she will also post something in the future; only to maybe make her feel better. It is true that  you feel better just talking about your situation with someone; even if you don't know them. Of course; she doesn't have to at all. Searching this forum has a lot of good info. and good people. Once again thank you for supporting your friend!

Thank you misshonesty; I have seen a couple of counselors in past 7 years for depression as well as having a family member with years of some form of depression or possibly bipolar diorder. I never stuck to just one counselor only went for advise. It has been really a major stress and continues to be. I have a goal to help this family member to deal with their disorder; so that I will finally find some peace in my life. Its extremely hard to get through each day without feeling like I'm going to collapse. Still trying to work my shifts when my mind is always in turmoil. I know that stress is a major factor on health and want so desperately for it to stop; because I know that I am getting more sick than anyone around me knows. I want to start taking better care of  myself; so that I can continue to help this person; but maybe never will succeed unless they can realize what is wrong. I guess that is why I went searching for forums such as this.

Topic: Fibromyalgia and Parathyroid Hyperactivity
Do any of my friends with fibromyalgia know if you do or might have an over active parathyroid?  Not THYROID- I'm looking for others with an overactive parathyroid - hyperparathyroidism.

I've just been diagnosed.  Two symptoms are fatigue and odd muscle pain.  Sound familiar???

As you may know our 4 parathyroids glands control the release of calcium in our systems.  The results of increased calciumin our systems is...scary.  I will see an endocrinologist Tuesday.  I'm just wondering if there is any link to this and fibromyalgia?

Thanks for any feedback.  If you don't know...do ask your doc to  check it...especially after gastric bypass...

Topic: RE: Lyrica questions
Yep, says so right on the medical literature. I quit taking it for that very reason. I take cymbalta now and haven't had that problem with it.

Topic: Lyrica questions
Has anyone found Lyrica to slow their weight gain after VSG?  My doctor is wondering why I am not losing more weight than I am.  I am wondering too, because my total calorie intake is not much.  He is wondering about the Lyrica.

Topic: RE: Savella Question
Thanks to everyone that replied.  I have decided to give it a try.  I have to get off of the Lyrica first, though.  I've been taking it for 3 yrs and have gained over 50 lbs.  I am hoping that some of that will come off when I change.  I can always go back on it since it does work, just not as well as I would like.  I'm pretty nervous about the side effects with Savella, though.  We'll see, I can imagine not trying to feel better so here I am.  :)
