i also hope you get a visit to the rheumatologist sooner, rather than later.  there's so much we don't know about this problem but getting it diagnosed does seem to be the correct first step.  i've heard - briefly - about a group trying to get it labeled as a disease.  it surprises me that that has not yet happened.
feeling alone is one of the worst things, i think.  and it's hard to explain the inability to do what you've done before.  i've had that happen ALOT.  so i'm glad that i can come here for support as well.
WELCOME!

haven't been on savella either.  just recently was taken off of lyrica - gained back about 90 lbs of the 200 i had lost.  am now on cymbalta, gabapentin, buspirone and several other meds for other issues.  i've read that the savella has some fierce side effects so will stay away from it as long as i can.  i wish you luck on the bypass approval.  it, and lasik, were the best i've done for myself.  take care of you.  good luck

Topic: RE: Savella Question
I just went off Savella (approximately 3 weeks ago).  I will eventually go back on it.  It worked fine for me.  Your Dr. would most likely wean you onto it.  I have heard it's quite expensive but my Dr. gave me all of mine in the form of samples.  It worked great for me.  I was never functioning at full capacity but considering life before Savella I was pretty happy.

The reason I went off had nothing to do with it's effectiveness.  I am bi-polar and although it is used for Fibro here in the states it is considered an anti-depressant in other countries (such as the UK).  I tried going off my other anti-depressant and just using Savella for dual purposes but I'm a rapid cycler and I couldn't stop staying awake for three days at a time.  I don't blame the Savella for this, it's just a bi-polar thing; and it happened to be my turn to play on the mood swing for a while.

Once I am past the mania, I will go back to Savella.  I took 50 mg twice daily, when I was at full dose but like I said, your doc will wean you on it so you won't start out there. Hope this helps.

Hi Sandra,

I don't have Fibro, but one of my best friends does have it, so I'm here trying help her all I can. She doesn't post, but I share with her all I've learned so far. She also had WLS in Jan, which is another reason I'm here as well.

These ladies are sooo insightful, I've learned a ton of stuff already.

Sandra, most Dr's don't understand Fibro, however, I have been told the best way to get social security, is to see a Psychiatrists or counselor. I'm serious they understand how hard Fibro is to deal with. Goodluck, B

Thank you. I am in process of looking for another doctor; as mine doesn't seem to understand much about fibromyalgia..It was a trip to emergency room that got the diagnosis from a resident student. Thank goodness for that; I thought I was going crazy! lol

Welcome! You can be assured we DO know how you feel, our pain is real. I hope somehow you can get in to the rheum. earlier that's a terribly long time to wait. If you have any questions feel free to ask, we'll gladly help if we can.

Thanks Pam! I know I've probably had this for seven years now and had to give up jobs to take lesser physical jobs; but of course that means lesser wages. Its hard to deal with the fact that a person used to be so strong and now cannot do most things. Hopefully I can make good friends here and learn and share stories!
