Topic: RE: Has WLS eased your FM?
My surgery (RNY) was 3 yrs ago. I lost 100 lbs and have maintained that loss. I too had hoped for an easing of symptoms but find that it has made no difference at all. Would I do it again? In a heart beat. I am so much more comfortable and moving about is easier--I still get a kick out of seeing a '10' on the label of my jeans. Christine

Topic: Has WLS eased your FM?
My bff is scheduled for WLS on the 2nd of Jan. She also suffers for FM and is hoping the surgery will ease some of the pain, which she associates with her being over weight and not FM.

Anyone else seen a difference? or not?

Topic: Could it have caused it?
I had plastic surgery in 1999. Tummy Tuck and Inner Thigh Lift. Thinking back, I remember asking my surgeon about pain that would radiate down the back of my hamstrings. He said that it was the nerves that had been cut during surgery starting to reconnect or something. Well, long story short, I started having pain (all over my body) early January of 2000. The doctors that I have seen for the Fibromyalgia said that it is caused by stress or trauma to the body. Could the plastic surgery be the cause?

Thanks,
~Amy~

Thanks for reminding me you know sometime we forget what good for us(hot bath that is)  I'm still waiting for the contractor to finish the final building and what I'm keeping is going to the new house and the rest will go to the needed.  I'm to tired  to try a garage sale, my sister  has been trying to talk me into one. I'M ACHING ALL OVER STILL.

i'M BEGINING TO FEEL LIKE I DID WHEN I WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED LIKE I'M NOT LIVING UP TO WHAT I CAN DO IN LIFE.  I KNOW THAT I CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH BEFORE I START TO GET ILL.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU'LL AND A HAPPY NEW YEARS.

Topic: RE: Migraine Headaches
I have chronic migraines as well and will be having my surgery around the Jan/Fed time frame.  Both my surgeon and my PCP feel that the weight loss will help.  The theory is that when the weight comes off and hopefully improves and/or cures my sleep apnea, high blood pressure, etc that will make a difference with the migraines.  I'm hoping they are right

WLS = weight loss surgery
NSAID = non-steriodial anti-inflamitory drug

I'm happy with my doctor and I couldn't afford a trip to NJ let alone a doctor that only takes cash. :) I was just curious if the surgery will make any difference to how bad my migraines are. I'll be having surgery sometime Jan/Feb next year.

Hi!
I was just diagnosed with migranes and am taking Frova as needed?  I am not sure what WLS is or NSAIDS is? I have not been taking any vitamins to help as I am just beginning to be treated for migranes.  I do know a great doctor in NJ that helps with migranes without the use of medication, however he is very expensive and does not except insurence.  If you would like to know his name let me know.  People littlerally come form all over the world to see him.  He is a fantastic Dr.  Let me know if your interested!  Good luck!

Hi!

I can't take anti-inflamatories and my doctor has me on steriods.  So far I have been on and off of them for about a month.  I also take plaqunil for Rheumatoid Arthritus.  What did you and your doctor decide?

I received a VSG so I'm still able to take all of my medications.  I'm not sure what I would do without my NSAIDs and other meds.  I hope you find an answer.  I'm wondering if you can take  a medication to coat your stomach before taking your NSAID or if it can be delivered by a patch in order to bypass the stomach.  It might be worth asking.
