Topic: RE: Help.. New fibro diagnosis- How am I suppose to handle this?
I recieved help at the closest Fibro & Fatigue Center to see if there is one near you look up www.fibroangfatigue.com In the mean time eat a high protien diet rich in raw fruits and veggies. Take hot showers to help the pain and ask your doctor for somthing to help you get sleep ( in REM sleep we make growth hormone that helps our body repair its self after we are grown ups ) Getting deep sleep that provide REM sleep is very important.avoid alchol, foods with a lot of preservitives or chemicals in it. Take high quality vitimins that will help with healing. if you can't get to a cenyter then at least see a rhumatoligest as they will know how to treat you better.
Good Luck

Topic: Help.. New fibro diagnosis- How am I suppose to handle this?
I just recieved the diagnosis of fibromyagia. But the doctors have also told me I have some sort of Auto immune disorder, they are just not able to identify it as of yet. It seems they caught it in the very early stages of whatever it is.
I just want to cry. I am in pain all the time. The doctor's are constantly playing with my medications and they still can't get it right. I don't sleep well. I can barely move. and the bad days seem to outnumber the good days.
When the fibro isn't causing pain the migraines are. I am in a no win situation. How am I suppose to handle all of this and still be able to work and do the things I need to do?

Topic: RE: Three Supplements that seem to help my FM
I appreciate your tips and may try them if I am unable to successfully use the meds I am currently on after surgery. I am a believer in both conventional medicine (hence the surgery) and alternative therapies. I've tried many, many alternative therapies for fibro, but none had more than a fleeting impact on my health conditions (I still would try other therapies however, as I believe that "natural" treatments are preferable). I'm currently managed with psych meds (cymbalta, abilify), lyrica and a rare vicodin and ibuprofen when the pain is extreme. Most of the time the pain is mild to moderate and does not impair my functioning. I'm also concerned about the impact of the surgery, but I have heard of people for whom the fibromyalgia went away post surgery, so I'm keeping an open mind. If it doesn't go away or is worse, I believe that between alternative treatments and conventional treatments I'll find a way to manage.
I agree that it is imperative to consult your doctor before mixing alternative and conventional "medications". Also I think post surgery with the malabsorption issues it will be especially important to confer with your doctor before you can even know what dosages would be safe to take.

That's for sure, there is nothing worse than having to move. I swear I'll never do it again! Hope you are able to get some rest and a chance to relax before you start again!
Topic: Lyrica post surgery
Has anyone had problems taking lyrica after an RNY? I'm planning surgery for mid-January and am concerned about whether I can take lyrica and whether it will as effective. Thanks for any help you can give me.

of those of us that just don"t know when good enough is enough. I"ve been trying to buid and packing up. (after living in the same house after 35 yrs)
OMG I have over done it and I'm miserable it quicker to say what don"t hurt ??? well that was a long list. I've been using Salon Patches for the last few weeks. Sitting on the bath tub with hot towel on the knees and any where else that I can reach. I can"t rest because I know I have a lot of packing to do. Good thing I not being thrown out and that I don"t have to have everything out in order to move. Decided to only pack what I'm going to need the first few months then let my daughter do the rest. She have been wanting to go though my thing and tra**** anyway. OH I'm going from 3300 sq ft to 1800. that made me want to run :) always saided I was going to down size. That GOD I don't sew for the public anymore. OH and the ramble of thoughts are worst than ever on the way to bed hoping to get some sleep tonight.

Hoping you are feeling better. I know what you mean here in Southeast Texas the weather have been fantastic. And I have been trying to get a house built and I have truly over done it. There is not part on my body that does not hurt. And with trying to build and packing also (after being in one place for 35 years ) it"s getting to be a lot to deal with. Now I'm about to have to take a week are so off to get back on track. And now the weather is getting cooler and you know
our body does not like the cool/cold weather.

I don't know about RNY but you could consider either the VSG (sleeve) or lap band neither of them cause malabsorption. Personally I would recommend the sleeve if possible, not all ins co allow the sleeve. I have read some others on here with RNY have had more issues after surgery, hopefully some of them will respond.
