My wife is a long term sufferer. None of those therapies work. The Tylenol in large quantities with damage your liver over time. The Lyrica really wrecked her. It did more damage than the Fibro but everyone is different. The only thing that seems to be helpful is my massaging her and when she manages to excercise and stretch. With Fibro you have to cure yourself by getting to a healthier state. Modern medicine has nothing to really offer I am sorry to say. Peace and good health.

I have a wonderful doctor.  She has told me that fibro pain does indeed get elevated when you do not sleep well.   She also said that the fibro in the nerves can cause the depression.

She has be on Cymbalta and Trazadone.   It doesn't alleviate all of the fibro pain, but I can sleep 8 hours at night now.   I work full time, and after work I must take a strong pain reliever.  She has me on Vicodin and prescribes it carefully but when I need it.  I can only get 2 refills.  So every 3 months, I go back and get another 'script.

I pay for the pain meds without insurance.  They require 90 day mail in and the doc doesn't want me to have that much on hand at a time.  I'm careful not to need a refill before 30 days is up.  I would be quite unhappy if she decided to take it away.

No.  It justs plain hurts.   I can't rest on flare up days.  I have a job that has to be done.   I'm only praying that I'll make it to retirement.  5 more years.

Weight loss surgery doesn`t help with Fibro pain. They don`t really know what causes the pain and the only thing other than drugs that helps me is exercise. I know sometimes its hard to get moving but I refuse to take the strong meds the Drs. want to give for fibro. They have to many side affects. I tpld my Dr. why should I take something that could possibly kill me. I would trather have the pain and live with it. I was diagnosed with it back in the early 90`s but have been suffering with it since I was in my 30`s I`m now 62.  I will make my days as comfortabl as I can and keep myself moving. On flare up days I will relax

Hi, I had Rny when I was 57 . I had an easier time of it then some of the younger ones did. In fact I was an example for them to follow as soon as they were able to get up and move.  I think alot has to do with attitude. My husband also had the rny 4 years ago. he was 59. and also had had a serious stroke 2 years before the rny. he did great and neirther of us has had any issues since.  Good luck .  Sunnylea

Sorry hon but I think the general feeling is that it really doesn't help with the fibro pain. Now if some of the pain is from arthritis it can help with that pain. It (WLS) has to help just in general by having less body to haul around but don't expect any relief from the fibro. I didn't find that lyrica helped me much and it caused weight gain but cymbalta has been helpful for me. It's so individual as to what helps, I don't think any one thing works for everybody. Feel free to post and vent anytime it's always good to see new folks!

i have read a lot of posts on this message board, but have not found even "one" that says their wls helped get rid of the fibro pain and discomfort; does anyone out there have a "good" story to tell??

Topic: RE: Feet hurt so bad.......
i, too, have fibro and type ii diabetes along with it..i have severe tingling in my feet, shooting pains that i call "lightening bolts", and pain that i fear getting up and walking...actually i do not know if pain/tingling is from fibro, arthritis, or neuropathy or all 3; i have been on neurontin for several years now and it has not stopped the discomfort, i haven't asked my pcp for lyrica yet...my poor 14 yo son has to massage my feet for me 2 x daily for some ease in the pain...soaking does not help either; i am like u, any new suggestions?

I know the feeling, I have foot pain too! I've had surgeries on both feet  and I guess they are full of arthritis too according to the surgeon. This may sound silly but I put Icy Hot on them several times a day and it helps quite a bit. There is one that's a gel and doesn't smell hardly at all so you don't have that aroma following you all day. Or maybe try soaking them in ho****er whenever you can, heat usually helps the pain. If there is nerve damage you might ask about neurotin, it's used to help with nerve pain like in shingles and neuropathy. Good luck and at least you know you aren't alone!

Topic: Feet hurt so bad.......
Hi all,  I have never posted on here before.  I have been diagnosed with fibro a few months back.  My body aches at times but my feet hurt soooo bad that I have a hard time getting around.  Once I get going, they still hurt but can walk slowly.  When I sit down or go to bed....OMG!!!!   I have such burning and throbbing it is terrible.   I am on 100mg lyrica 3x a day.   I had the shock and pin test and my neuro doc found some nerve damage and sent me for glucose tolerance  test but do not go bac****il the first week in November.  The pain is unbearable at times.  Any suggestions?
Thanks everyone!!!!!
