Topic: RE: Wondering how my fibro sisters are
Hello.  I'm new to the forum.  My Fibro has been out of control.  I've been extremely exhausted and in back pain.  But I'll be fine.  Gentle hugs to you all.

Right there with ya!! Since we're human barometers now, we react to any change in pressures.
I think we need biosphere houses where we can adjust things, a car that does that, oh and a special shopping area for us. lol
Hang in there, hopefully won't be a long flare.
I have my fur heating pads on each side of me, and that helps some. Had to put tens unit on to be able to move around.
We do acclumate to our meds at times and need to review & twik things.
It's such a pain to live this way, but we'll get thru it, even if we get cranky with others when they don't understand.
There's a site I've found that gives great info. on fibro. & other related problems. It's called

Topic: RE: Fibro "fog"
I have fibro fog too, but it is complicated with the cognitive issues I have from some other health issues.  I was trying to read a recipe today and it was like trying to read a scientific thesis or something.  Nothing about it was making sense to me and it was a simple recipe.  I read a lot less now than I used to; I used to be able to have several books going at the same time.  I can't do that any longer.  Reducing stress, turning off sound, etc. helps me.  Sound really complicates my issues.

I'm sorry for all you are going through.

I tell my doctors that I refuse pain medications unless they are considered non-narcotic and are very safe.  The only one I take is Tramadol and I only take it when I absolutely have to take to take it and only at night.  I am on Lyrica for the fibromyalgia and it helps a lot, but not enough.  You can see a pain specialist that your doctor recommends, hopefully a good one that is not into drugs.  I have one for my back and I get injections, etc.

All the states are cracking down on pain medications - really all medications - and I believe the doctors are going to have to get stricter with what they prescribe.  I know here in VA the state or the doctors can pull your prescriptions reports at any time and track what you get.  That is to cut down on people abusing meds.  I get massages at least once a month and I have a massage therapist I have seen for 8 years who does trigger point therapy, and she was recommended by a doctor.

Something else may be going on besides Fibromyalgia and if so, those medications won't help anyway.

Topic: RE: How bad before retirement or disability?
I have multiple issues for disability and it took me 4 years of fighting through the courts.  Fibromyalgia was one of the disabilities the judge approved.  It was not the reason I initially filed.  I had to stop working, there was no choice.  My health issues were too dramatic and affected my work in a huge way.  I think I might have been able to delay it for a while but my boss was a jerk.  I apparently had a stroke and one of the issues he complained about was I didn't smile.  Duh.  Anyway, I suggest you wor****il you can't work any longer.  It can be financially devastating as you can imagine.

Topic: RE: tens unit
I have a TENS unit at home (actually two different kinds) and they do work.  I don't mind them at all and they do help me.  You have to know how to use it and how long to use it, etc.

Vent away!!! It just turned cold here too and I feel like I got beat up in a bar brawl! Fortunatly I'm taking a day off to loaf! Hubby is gone on a trip and here I am snuggled in bed with the dog and cat, don't get much better than that. I'll probably pay for it tomorrow being stiff but for today this feels great, got the electric blanket toasting away on us! Ahhhhh this is the life, but I'll have to go back to the real life in a day or so. Wish we could all just spend a few days pain free and comfy. Blessings to all!

Gee I wonder why most if not all FM people have depression, want relief what ever it is, and sleeping problems that just makes it all worse..
When we HURT every where everyday of our lives, and then can't sleep to get any releif.....I am sure that if these Doctors had fibro there would be more research done!!!!!!!!!!!
