Topic: RE: pain meds what works for u?
I take cymbalta 30mg 2x a day, morphine 30mg 2x and 5 mg oxycodone every 4-6 hrs. That doesn't rid me of all the pain but it makes it tolerable most days. I get mine from my primary care doc but started with a pain clinic he sent me to. As far as energy I don't have any either, chronic fatigue often goes with the fibro. I just do as much as I can and sometimes I just have to make myself do it anyway. I sleep thru the night but never feel rested, we fibro trend not to get to all the sleep stages so never feel rested no matter how much sleep we get. Like any other chronic disease we have to take it one day at a time. Best of luck to you.

Topic: RE: Neurontin-anyone taken it?

I also have Fibro for the last 10 years or so.  I have taken sooooo many medications that I can't remember all of them.  I do take neurontin and have found some relief from it.  I do think that my memory has gotten really bad and have gained weight over the last 2 years.  I now still take it, but I'm down 38lbs because of having lab band surgery.  I agree with everyone's response about each person is different, that is why we have soooooooo many different medications.  I also take Savella which I think is working okay.

I do hope you can find your niche in the world of medi's for your fibro.  May many blessings come your way.

Topic: RE: Fibro & Chronic pain????
I don't know the answer to your question totally, but my pain management doctor says that "chronic pain" is a part of fibromyalgia.  Fibro includes things other than pain for most of us.  For me, I have terrible insomnia and extreme fatigue.  I still work because I own my own insurance agency.  I am not able to be as active as I was before but I want to work as long as I possibly can.  Good luck on finding out a dx on your symptoms.

Topic: RE: How am I supposed to do this????
I am fortunate that I can take narcotic pain meds.  They help most of the time but not all.  I have break through pain if I over do it.  One of the things I've found easiest to do is water exercise.  I swim and sometimes just walk in the pool back and forth where the water comes to my shoulders.  That way I'm getting some resistance on my whole body.  Sometimes after the water workouts I am more sore and tender, but that is okay in comparison to what I feel like from ordinary exercises.  It's a process of figuring out what works and what doesn't.  How much, how often, etc.  Good luck and don't hesistate to post!  We're all in this together!

You're never a bother, we're all here to support and share info. Yep that's the 64 million dollar question, how to exercise with all the pain we have. Myself I just can't do much because of other health issues. Walking is always a good one because you can do anything from a stroll to fast walking. If there is a pool close to you that's always good too (once your incision heals), often they are nice and warm which feels good. I can sometimes ride my stationary bike which is a recumbent type because of my back pain. Anything we do we have to balance between doing too much and not enough and to some extent we just have to suck up the pain and do it anyway. The way I look at it is I'm gonna hurt anyway so I may as well go ahead and exercise, fortunately I can take narcotics and don't have to work outside the home. Even with the narcotic pain meds I still hurt. Just do the best you can and go slow so you don't set off a flare and make it worse. God bless back to you cause He's the only one that gets me thru the day!

Topic: RE: A long time Fibro sufferer
How long did it take for you to get diagnosed?  I am not sure if I have fibro or chronic pain or what! My doctors (and there have been many) just don't have a clue why I suffer? They don't seem very sympathetic either and I am quite tired of seeing new doc's!

I have pains in different areas along my spine. Abdominal pains in different areas and different severitys. I have been getting pains in my knees and have suffered ankle pain since I was a kid.

I also feel as though doctors give people diagnosises of fibro, chronic pain, IBS, etc. when they just don't know what else is causing the pains. (process of elimination) I am just afraid that my doctors are getting sick and tired of hearing my constant complaints about the same ailments that they are just going to give up and just call it fibro just to shut me up and get me out of their face!

I want a diagnosis of something so bad!  I am tired of suffering with no answers as to why!

Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? I say, what difference does it make--I paid for a full glass,so either way I am getting jipped!!!

Sorry to bother you again, but..........

How do you excorsise and lose weight when you suffer pain?  (I figured, what better board than this to ask this kind of question on.) I still have weight to lose. My doctors tell me losing weight should decrease my pains. (how would they know when they are still undiagnosed!?!?!)  But anyway, how do any of you excorsise when you suffer pain? I would like to excorsise by walking and light dancing. (I am still recovering from my panni/hernia surgery, so lifting weights and sit ups and stuff is obviously not what I can do at the moment.)

I have trouble taking pain meds due to side effects, allergies, and drug interactions with my Coumadin.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again to all of you. Take care and God bless.

Topic: Anyone Had A Medial Spinal Block?
I think that's what it's called.  I'm going in tomorrow morning to have one to help the chronic and horrible pain in my sciatic nerve.  If you have or know anything about it, please share!  Thanks.
