Topic: RE: So tired
I am almost 6 months post-op.  I am disappointed in the amount of walking that I can do.  I can walk 1 1/2 miles on a good day.  It took a year to work up to that amount. I still have fatigue. That is just part of fibro. The surgery didn't help the fibro.

Topic: RE: Neurontin-anyone taken it?
I take 1200 mg of neurontin a day.  It helps with pain and muscle jerks.  I have had no side effects that I am aware of.  I didn't know that it causes carb craving.

Topic: RE: Myoclonic Jerks w/ Fibro?
I have these types of muscle jerks all day.  They occur especially when I am sleepy. I do not have serotonin sydrome.  I take wellbutrin also. I have found the neurontin helps. I take two 300mg caps before bed as well as two 300 mg caps during the day.

I have periodic limb movement disorder.  It is a sleep disorder which cause me to jerk around at night and wakes me up.. The neurontim helps with this. I wonder if the klonopin you take at night keeps you from being woken up by jecking around.

I have wondered if the muscle jerks are a side effect of wellbutrin.  Wellbutrin decreases the seizure threshold. They aren't exactly seizure though.

I have no idea what causes them. They are not from anxiety. They don't seem to do any harm.  They do cause the strange sensation you mentioned. The worse part is that it draws attention to me. I guess that I am embarrassed.

They never happen when I am driving or walking.

I have thought that perhaps the muscle jerks are part of the over sensitive nervous system that they say we have.

Topic: Meniere's Disease?
Long before I had my WLS I was dianosed with arthritis and fibromyalgia.  My pain is so bad from the FB that I wear a pain patch to help control it.  After my surgery in 05 , I developed some ongoing problems thought to be related to the surgery.

In December 08, I had Septic Shock and was in the hospital for quite some time with that and then the recovery from it.  At that time I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease.  What a blessing to finally be diagnosed with something that I am getting treatment for.

I am wondering if anyone else on here has Meniere's Disease?  Vertigo?  Tennitis?  Dizzy and throwing up everyday?  It could be Meniere's.

Please read my post on Fibro it my help. I am sorry your hurting I as most emphasize with you. But you have to get a hold of your depression and try to work on meds some time switching them around until you find what helps your body some. Just know the pain it never goes away you have good days and bad, and you just enjoy the good deal with the bad and tell your self your to strong to let it knock you down. as I did mention the pool with warm water is great I went to YMCA and hung out with seniors and took their class. I felt good. I don't live near one now so I wrap warm towels on me when I hurt alot. Keep socks on and find things to do in the reclyner(crafts) on my bad days. Email any time you want to talk [email protected] Feel better Marylou

I am glad some read this, and Thanks for being one that knows also. You myst be like all of us old folk ha ha who do the Gee I feel great and run and do all the fun things you can or spring clean etc, and the next day ask your self "why did I do that! I know better. But had a great time so just live with the days after. I felt lousy today got off Cymbalta to see if I can handle not being on it. Don't like withdrawls from it at all. But I took a short walk, made a tart with berries for dessert tonight and am taking care my friends 14 year old with a broken hand. Not to mention 4 new puppies and 3 other Shema's we own. And sick feeling or not going fishing tomorrow! Because like it or not this Fibro is not going away and neither is the pain, but I just love life or I would have stayed Fatter and unhappy.

Topic: RE: Plastic Surgery with Fibromyalgia????
Hi,
In my opinion and it is just my own opinion surgery does not make fibro worse. I have had fibro for at least 25 years and it was brought on by viral encephalitis as a 10 year old child. I have had many major surgeries and the fibro has not gotten any worse. I am planning on having breast augmentation in a year or so. I am not at all concerned with the fibro. I have flair ups over nothing so if I do flair I know that it will pass. I don't know if this helps or not but I would not hesitate to have PS. I think mentally you will feel so much better about yourself and that can make the fibro better.

You are so right about keeping moving and staying alive. That's something I always tell newbies, you choose how you live with fibro either you lay in bed and die a slow miserable life or you keep fighting and live life as full as you are able. Me, I choose to live the fullest I can, some days are awful and some are great but they are all worth living. Life is what we make it! Hope others see this and know that they can have a happy life even thru the pain!
