Topic: RE: best WLS for people with fibromyalgia
That's pretty much what my Dr. told me. He said I may have some relief, but fibro is "weird". Sometimes the symptoms actually may get worse after weight loss! I am just praying that is not the case for me.

Topic: RE: Anyone on Savella?
Thank you, I taking only 12.5 mg once a day to start i'm hoping my system will accept it. Weird but, I used to have to take stronger strengths of meds even antibiotics.
I haven't been able to take 5mg of flexeril or the trazadone. Felt utterly drugged on them like I was falling into a pit. If that makes sense?
I wonder if my body is metabolizing meds to fast? guess I need to ask that question to drs.

Topic: RE: Getting very depressed-tired of hurting
I know how you feel. The depression has been one of the worst parts of Fibro for me. I take a combination of Savella, Lyrica and Amitriptylene. Right now it seems to be working pretty good. I still wear out really quickly, but the pain is better (of course it is always'there') and I seem to be coping with life for the most part.
I hope you can find some help soon.

Topic: RE: So tired
I am pre-surgery and that is one of my fears. I am worried about how much physical activity I am going to be able to manage. I get tired so easily. My hope is that as the weight comes off, I will be able to do more & more activities. I hope that is the case for you too.

I am on Savella and Lyrica. So far doing really well. I don't remember having any issues with it when I first started. Hope things get better for you.

I hurt before having my surgery and still hurt. I believe that I would be in worse shape if I hadn't lost the weight I have.
My rheumatologist points out the effects of being obese on the joints. Think he forgets I was ever morbidly obese, or maybe he's telling me that all the yrs of being MO is a factor in the progress of the RA?
Speak to your surgeon, your PCP, ask questions and relate your fears and concerns to them.
Wish you the best in deciding, Pam

I have been on Savella for about 2 months and all is well. I have not had my surgery yet. I am concerned about the effects of my arthritis, fibromyalgia in particular, after the surgery.
Topic: RE: Fibromyalgia and SS Disability
Fibromyalgia is one in a long list of things that is wrong with me. It took me 5 yrs...but I was finally approved. I contacted my State Represenetive on his web page was questions and problems with SS. I took my entire file with a cover letter to his office and was approved in less than 3 mos. And when they called to say I was approved there was a comment made about me being a friend of my State Reprsenetive, I got this suggestion from a friend whose husband kept getting denied. It worked for him also...someone else it worked for told them. My friend and I do not live in the same state. You might as well give it a try.
Topic: RE: New here
I tried Gabapentan and it did not help me at all. So I am no longer on it. Nothing takes all the pain away. If I can get the pain to a 7 on a scale of 1-10 then I can live with it. I think I have been in pain for so long...I do not know what it is to be without pain. I quit saying anything to family and friends about it. They think I am crazy and it is all in my head. My Fiance is the only one that understands and he is a Nurse Manager at VA in Leavonworth. At least I have him. I don't know what I would do without him. Hope you find something that helps a little.

The Hot Baths feel good ....but I have so much pain in my legs, feet , back and arms that I have a very hard time getting in and out of the tub. I would give anything for a Hot Tub. I put in a Jaccuzi bath tub at my old house. It felt wonderful...but had the same problem getting in and out. I use multiple heating pads. I wear them out...I use them so much.
