I take it along with a lot of other things.  It does not really help with the pain...but it does  help with the panic attacks.  Sometimes the pain is so bad and I get so frustrated and depressed I panic.

I know it is rough.  In addition to Cymbalta your Dr. may be able to Prescribe Welbutrin.  I am no longer on Cymbalta...It did not work for me.  I am on Effexor XR and Welbutrin XL.  I also take Lyrica two forms of morphine, Clonazepam, and Remeron for sleep.  People who do not suffer from it...just do not understand.  My Best to you.  I am hoping that losing weight will help.

Currently I am taking

Morphine 30mg Extended Release twice a day
Morphine 15mg 3 times a day in between the Extended Release
Lyrica 75 mg 2 x a day
Welbutrin XL 150mg  1x day
Welbutrin XL 300 mg  1x day
Clonazepam .5mg 1x day
Effexor ER 150mg 2  1x day
Remeron 30 mg for sleep

It helps...but it does not take the pain away...especially Rt leg and foot, and Lft side of neck and shoulders.  As long as the pain is mostly tolerable... I usually am at about 7 on a pain scale 1-10.  And to me that is tolerable.  I do not want to add more meds or increase the strength of them.  I do not want to be a walking Zombie...I want to enjoy life.

I am really hoping that losing the weight will help.  But, if nothing else...I know it will help a lot of my other problems.

Have you tried going to a Pain Center?  The Dr. at the Pain Center is the one that diagnosed me.  You might try that.

Tampa is a straight shot on I-75 for me.  Would you share the name of your rheumatologist?  I'd like to research this one.  Who is your primary?  I love new doctors just for that reason.

Im currently on 75mg Lyrica 3x a day and Cymbalta.  It seems to help some.  I definately cannot take the Lyrica alone, it gives me terrible ADD symptoms.  Anyway, i also found that aqua therapy helps so much because of the warm water and your muscles are working in a different way.

I am also on Lyrica and Cymbalta...did you have any problems taking them after surgery?  I was wondering if they go down easy.  Im not afraid of the surgery (im pre-surgical)..but i really fear going back to the intense pain i was in before i had my Lyrica and Cymbalta.

Thanks

I got my diagnosis from my primary care, but only because she graduated med school in the last 3 years or so.. so she was still in the "need to find the solution to this" mentality. It took her a visit with me of about 2 hours straight.. just her being with me.. but after all was said and done, she had a good idea, then ordered some tests - called me that afternoon to confirm my diagnosis.

Sent me to a rheumatologist who immediately confirmed the same.. and now I'm going for treatment. But I live near Tampa, FL.

I am so sorry about your financial situation.  That is heartbreaking about your house.  I hope your SSD will go through.
This certainly is a horrible condition and like you said, people just don't understand it.
Thanks for telling me about Tramadol.  I will ask my PCP.  I have tried Lyrica and it doesn't seem to help me.
Be good to yourself.

I have Fibro, too.  It has literally changed my life and turned it upside down.  I can no longer work full-time and am single.  I am not receiving SSD yet and am anticipating losing my case.  I am also now in forclosure and losing the house that I've owned for 17 years.  The pain can be absolutely debilitating!  I am so sorry that you aren't getting cooperation from your PCP.  It think it's time to find a new doctor!

I have to say that I have been taking Cymbalta for 5 years and added 400 mg of Lyrica which helped.  In addition, I recently had been giving Oxycodone 10 mg every 6 hours.  This helped, too.  Just last week, I was given Tramadol to try.  This is a non-addictive non-narcotic pain med.  I am amazed.  For me, I get 10 times the relief I did from the Oxycodone.  So to recap, I would ask for Lyrica and Tramadol.  Your doc may be more comfotable prescribing these as they are not narcotics.

I hope you feel better.  It's really a tough condition that so many others just don't understand cuz we "look" fine.

Keep your chin up - better days do come around and we can be thankful that it's a disease that doesn't actually  kill us.  It may feel like it at times, but it won't.

Hugs,

Jennifer
