Topic: RE: Now i need a shoulder replacement
Oh sweetie I know how you feel! Since 2004 I've had a hip replacement, several breast biopsies and eventually breast cancer, broken left foot and leg, broken right leg , surgery on my right foot and waiting to have my left foot operated on. If I don't have at least one surgery a year it's not really a good year! I think I've single handedly built a new wing on the local hospital! My hip was bone on bone and it sure did feel great when it was fixed, I hope your shoulder comes out the same. It's not bad enough to have the fibro we get this nonsense too, aren't we lucky? Best wishes to you!

Topic: Now i need a shoulder replacement
My shoulders have been hurting me so bad. My PCP did Xrays.
Then I just got back from the orthopedic doc and he said my right shoulder is major bone to bone and a lot of spurs. He said that the tendons in the right one are being pinched now. the left one is not bone to bone yet but he is worried because the bigs spurs he is afraid they are tearing from the spurs now. He did give me a cortisone shot in the left one. He said if it does not help it I need to call him and get in for a MRI right away. I told him I feel like I am in a race to see if I can replace the parts before I die....
I already have two knee replacments.  Fun Fun He did say that the shoulders are very minor compaired to knees and hips.

Life can be fun .....

Topic: RE: Problem with pain med mal-absorption?
I have found that I will only accept "hard" pain meds that I can break in half. I have explained to my doctors that "time released" capsules do not work with our bypass construction. And I agree---breaking the meds in half or more to make the dose last longer works pretty well.

Thanks for the support!

Instead of taking a pill every 12 hours... take a 1/2 a pill every 6 hours...  basically, when you would normally pop a pill because you hurt only take 1/2 and when it wears off take the other 1/2 that normally works for me.

I just love you ladies! Just when you are sure no one understands- you all step in ...I can't even begin to tell you what that mean.(but i  am sure you already know).I use to take SO many meds..I didn't notice much differance so therefore stopped taking all of them. And to be honest with you again I don't notice much differance.I have been pretty much snowed in and the damp weather is taking it's toll.Come on spring...I try to do a few crafts..they have to be easy on the hands.easier on the mind as I am in some kind of REAL fog right now..Kinda limits you hugh?? lol...lets laugh ladies because I just plain old don't know what else to do !! I do have to tell you...this morning I had to go to the post office.we have about 14 inches on snow, huge drifts, slippery, but the tree's were the most beautiful I have ever seen, coated with  a this layer of ice and glowing in the enemic sunshine.Bless the small things. It was beautiful!!I hope you all have a good day also...Some day... we will look back and smile...Cindy

I don't think anyone should judge how much pain you are in or what disease is worse. MS is a horrible disease. I am a nurse and have taken care of people with advance MS and many patients with fibromyalgia. Since I also have fibro I can relate more to them. I've missed alot of time from work due to pain, and I also have a high pain tolerance. I'm up quick after surgeries with little pain, but agree that chronic pain is different and can stress you out till your are irritible and jumpy with everyone. I get like that at work and feel bad that I did. Many people at work  I still believe don't think I feel as bad as I do, because I don't "look sick!" , you know the standard response from people about people with fibro. Everyone expected when I lost weight the pain would basically be gone. I feel like am constantly trying to explain myself more now that I weigh less and still have pain. Since I can't take my Motrin any longer I can feel the pain more. The only NSAIDS I can take is celebrex which does nothing for me. Lord only knows how I'll be able to work 16 more years to retirement. Since I'm sole supporter and have no back up money looks like many more years. The only thing I can do is take it one day at a time. This site helps to be able to vent and talk to people who know how you feel. Hope everyone is having a good day today.   JoAnn

Topic: RE: Is is me or is this the WORST winter EVER for us with Fibromyalgia?
I agree, I seem to being hurting alot more lately, I thought it was just me. I am almost one year out, and know I don't exercise like I should for  weight loss, health reasons or fibromyalgia. But I seem to hurt and can't seem to push myself to do what I know I need too. Since I can't take my motrin anymore, pain seems worse and all they would allow as NSAIDS is celebrex which does nothing for me. I also think that during winter months I have alittle SAD (seasonal affective disorder). Have been reading alot about that lately and know due to dreary days, overcast and work hours not getting enough sun. It also says you can crave carbs more, which I have been since darker hours starting earlier. Find myself just wanting to curl up in blanket on couch and not due much this time of year. I know that's not  right and will cause more pain, but can't seem to get motivated. Seem in more pain and more depressed.  I hope you find something that  helps you. Good Luck.  JoAnn

I have been struggling with the disease for 15 years now.  I have good days and bad days.  These past few months have been terrible.  I went back to the doctor and he prescribed more antidepressants!! I am so weary of being dismissed by doctors.  He gave me the new drug Savella, which is an antidepressant.  Any suggestions for pain relief other than antidepressants?

I'm having the worst time this winter. It's been unusually wet and cold this winter. I'm in the process of switching meds for the pain and it's made everything worse. I can't wait till it warms up! Hope you find some relief.
