I hope you have seen a dr by now :) I realize you posted this a few years ago, but I am SO GLAD that I came across it. I am CONSTANTLY under attack by mosquitos. No one else ever got bit but me. I thought something was wrong ! Jeesh While on the phone with my mom today she said she read some where that people with Fibro tend to attract them more than " normal " people. I can't even walk to the mailbox with out getting hit a few times. I do live in the country , but it's beyond ridiculous. I have found some relief by using one of those units they sell at Home Depot. I think it's by Stinger. Works great. It attracts them so DO NOT place it near you . I thought it did the opposite and repelled them. Sat it next to me and said " Come get me now! " and they did. They swarmed around me. Thats when I looked at the box and smacked myself upside the head....lol anyway...best of luck to you and hope your feeling better! Thanks again :)

If you think you have iron deficiency, maybe look at this cross post:

Well, I guess I have FM and osteoarthritis as per doctor's diagnosis as my B-12 since RnY over 4 years ago is absolutely in the "great" range ( of course I supplement 1000mcgs 3 xs a week) and altough my iron has been dropping over the last 3 years it was only just below the low normal...I have been supplementing since last November with 300mg ( 100mg elemental iron) daily or every second day and am back up in the normal range...I have also made sure I eat red meat at l least once a week as had stopped eating beef and with small RnY pouch, cannot absorb iron from vegetable sources as not enough stomach lining surface  and intrinsic factor available anymore... So my pains and aches are not from those deficiencies...

Edited to add: I kept up and never slacked with my vits and other supplementation since my RnY...

IBS sucks! I have fibro and also suffer from IBS. I have not had weight loss surgery yet and I am not completely familiar with the post op diet. I thought I would share anyway.  A gluten free diet is great for fibro.  I have been working with a holistic nutrionist and went gluten free.  I have had amazing results.  When I get lazy and start eating breads etc, the IBS returns and brings with it all the gas, pain and cramping etc.  Good luck, hopefully this might help.

Topic: What if you have something else besides Fibromyalgia?
I've been doing some research on this subject because I've been having severe body pain that is progressive since 2007.  I had my RNY in 2001.  I've had all kinds of tests from all kinds of doctors and no one can find out what is wrong.
Yesterday I went to a rheumatlogist.  He said that he didn't think I had FM but that he would do some tests and call me back in two weeks for a follow up appointment.  He took eleven vials of blood!
I was reading someone's reply on here somewhere on a post (Tamara) and she said that she found out that her pain was caused by a SEVERE deficiency in B-12 and iron.  I knew that caused neuropathy but I thought it was just in the hands and feet.  I'm finding out that it can be all over a person's body!

So my thought is this:

What if most of the people on this forum have this deficiency and not FM?  I'd like to get some replies from those *****ad this and tell us if you kept up with your vitamins like you should and if you think this could be your problem instead of FM.

The sad thing is that even if we got our levels up to standard, the nerve damage is more than likely permanent, which means we have to be on pain meds forever.  *sigh*

Topic: RE: newly diagnosed but questioning doctors
Tamara I'm so excited that I found someone who has my symptoms!  I went to the rheumatologist yesterday and he took eleven vials of blood.  At this point, he isn't sure what is causing my body pain and my muscle weakness.  He says he doesn't think it's FM because my pain comes on within four hours after I wake up or either after I work really hard.  The pain is debilitating and now my leg muscles feel like jello most of the time.
The doc has put me on Tramadol for pain, Meloxicam as an anti-inflammatory and now has me on Neutontin.  I hate taking prescribed meds but I have to admit that the pain is lessened with them.  I just hate feeling loopy.
I kind of felt like my symptoms could be from my RNY eleven years ago but wasn't for sure.  When I go back to his office in two weeks, I will ask him to test my B12 levels and iron levels.

Have you ever had pain radiate from your chest into your arms after eating heavy fats or sugars?  That's where my pain started years ago and now has graduated all over my body.

I'd love to hear from you and any more details of your condition.  Feel free to email me as I would get it quicker that way.

What are you taking for nerve damage now and is it helping?

At least we are in this together girl!

God is taking care of us so don't lose faith ok?

Hugs,

Robin

Topic: RE: Fibro Pain Meds after RNY
hi, i haven't had my surgery yet, but soon. everyone has told me that the surgery will not help in decreasing the pain associated with fibro.  that was one the first questions i asked. apparently, the weight loss, may help in some ways, but not to relieve pain. i wasn't happy when i was told. but still, it's worth having the surgery. less weight to carry. maybe that will definatly help in some way.

Topic: IBS worse after RNY
 Hi Everyone:

As a fellow Fibro sufferer, thank you for being on these boards.

I've had terrible IBS for as long as I've had fibro (almost my whole life).  I had RNY surgery on June 29, 2012.  I don't feel as if anything is wrong structurally, but I do feel like my IBS is taking over my life.  Anything I eat turns into gas and horrible pain.  It's the same gas/pain I've had my whole life, except I used to get these attacks about once a month.  Now it's about 5 times a day.  I'm using GasX, tried Carafate (made it worse), doubled the Prevacid.  My doctor is working with me on this.  We got rid of dairy as well.

I'd like to know if anyone else has had a worsening of IBS symptoms since surgery.

On a good note...I'm still here, down 40 pounds and feel fine otherwise.

Thank you for reading.

Topic: Lymph node question
Hi everyone,

It has been awhile since I've posted. I haven't been on any medication for my Fibro since January and to be honest, I still feel the same whether I am on medication or not.  However, I did go to my Internal Medicine Doctor because I just don't feel quite right. My lymph node in my left arm pit has been sore and the Doctor sent me for a Mammogram and an Ultrasound. My result was a swollen Lymph Node in my armpit and now they are sending me to a Surgeon to evalute me.  Has any of you experienced this? If so, do you know what it was or how they treated you?
Oh and I had a bunch of blood work done too. I am quite sad to report that I was notified my blood sugar is 7.1 and I am given 3 months to get my act together or I will be put on medication.  I know for a fact this is related to my weight gain and that is a huge reason why I am not taking medication (I gained 30 lbs on Amitryptaline and it slowed my metabolism). I'm just so frustrated..I haven't been on diabetic medication since 2005.
Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks

Taking one day at a time.
