Topic: New diagnosis to add to the list
had my dr appt this morning and got my results. my feet turned purple in the office so i was able to get a definite confirmation of Raynaud's and I also have rheumatoid arthritis. We decided to go with the recommended treatment of aggressive medication therapy early out since research shows it helps with the condition as it progresses. So there we go- an answer finally.
oh and on top of Raynauds and rheumatoid arthritis I have vitamin deficiencies out the ass. I will be spending the next few days researching the best ways to up my levels. Even with the supplementing I have been doing for my D I down to a 7! yes.. seven.. a ******g 7! YIKES! Why did no one tell me that before?! Perfect labs my ass! My surgeon SUCKS at aftercare.

Topic: RE: Lyrica: Thoughts?
I have been taking Lyrica and Cymbalta for my fibromyalgia and find that it has helped alot. I still have some strange feelings in my face, but also have other medical issues. I find that this medication helps tremendously for nerve pain. Give it a try and good luck to you. By the way, I did not gain weight from taking Lyrica.
Topic: RE: fibro meds interfere with weight loss?
WLS in June of last year and have had fibro for 15 years or so. Once you have WLS you can't take NSIDS or any time released meds. I take a lot of different meds and the only one that were changed was time released to regular meds on welbutrian and ambian. I take vicadan/tylanol and tramadol for pain with no problem. I recently started with cymbalta so I can't address that one.
I believe getting the weight off has helped a lot but the pain is still there. One good thing is that after losing so much weight I find it a lot easier to exercise and that seems to have helped also.
Good luck

Topic: RE: Help just had gastric bypass may 16th

Well I had open gastric bypass Sept 26,06. I have had fibro for years. All surgeries will make a fibro worse for a while. I have had 2 knee replacements and a shoulder replacements. If you feel pains etc you need to call doctor. BUT you have to get fluids in or you will dehydrate fast. Which could also be your symptoms!
It does get better but you have to stay on things and call your doc if your really uncomfortable.
Keep us posted how your doing.

Does anyone have a referral to a good rheumotologist in Westchester County, NY. I'm seeing one in NYC at Hospital for Special Surgery and he is getting me angry. I feel like he is not listening to me and is not documenting my flares on my medical records. Not happy with him. Not to mention that I have to drop a $100 every month I go. Done with him. Please let me know if anyone is seeing a rheumo they like in my area. Thanks

Topic: RE: Flare 4 days and counting
So sorry you are being yanked around! If only these people had to live with what we do. I don't know how military works but are ther pain management clinics available or someone that specializes in rheumatology? They would be more helpful that a primary doc. I'm on cymbalta myself and that seems to help but I also take narcotics too to calm the pain but even so there are still days when I want to scream. Gentle hugs and hope you can get some relief soon!
Topic: Flare 4 days and counting
NEw to this forum. I had RNY revision 09/2010. I still dont understand about my fibro. :( This flare is into its fourth day. I thought I was feeling a little better yesterday and decided to clean house and fold clothes. This left me exhausted. Today the pain in my head neck and back are terrible and the rest of me just achy as heck! I've tried lyrica, neurotin and others before surgery but the swelling was crazy, like 12 lbs of fluid in one day! So since surgery I have been in the "suck it up" frame of mind. We recently moved to Fort Belvoir and I have new Army docs who treat me as if I am a drug seeker, blah blah blah. I find it laughable at times because I know other people are getting help and some really are drug seekers. I suffer and feel like my doctors are clueless to it. I had one tell me two months ago that she was sure my pain would all go away with my continued weightloss! ha ha! As if weightloss cured fibro, or the bone fragment floating around in my spine, or my other complicated issues I have. Sorry for the rant, just so tired of it.
Topic: RE: Elivil??
I have had fm for about 7 years. I was on elivil recently. Only for about 4 months. Anyway....I would wake up in the middle of the night and see things crawling on the walls, falling from the ceilings, and lets not mention the weird dreams. Everyone is different. It did not work for me. Unpleasant side effects. I was glad to get off of that.
