I am looking for a penpal kitchener waterloo area or anyone who is working with the Guelph Bariatric Clinic.  I had my RNY on 30apr12 and things are going fantastic.

Hello,

Thank you. My son is 7mo now. That is an old picture but I just love it. He is my only child and I work nights so I can spend as much time with him as possible.  It's been fun but I sure don't sleep much. Ha.

I have already been prequalified for the surgery, I have started the nutrition classes and all my testing is lined up so I am on my way. I am guessing I will have surger around early Nov. (at least I am hoping)  I already had a sleep study, that is the way I was able to qualify. Sleep apnea runs in my family.  I have severe asthma from acid reflux so my pulmonologist is very behind the surgery.  I also have to see a psychiatrist and have a bunch of labs done.  I know it will be worth it because I have been trying to lose weight my whole life.  My mother isn't behind it but did offer to come out to help, my husband just wants to see the results but isn't interested in the process or anything so I am fairly alone in this but I work in the hospital I am having the surgery done at so I am not worried.

I  had the verticle sleeve last Tuesday May 22.  The surgery went smoothly.  I returned to work after a week and am doing great.  I would love to be your pal.  My e-mail address is [email protected] - It is a work address so I don't get e-mails on the weekends.

How did your surgery go and how are you feeling?

Hi all,

I am 8 months out from RNY. I am 5'9 and at 179. It has been a wonderful journey with ups and and downs. I live in Raleigh, NC. I had a friend who had surgery two years before then, so she was very helpful. Feel free to email me here or at [email protected].

I hope your surgery went well and you are adjusting to a new belly. :)

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Andrea- yes it counts . I just read youre profile - what a beautiful lil boy you have. Whats going on with youre surgery. I know to get mine done and with my insurance i had to go through alot . It wasnt eaasy but its worth it in the long run .Best thing i have ever done.I had to go to dieticians  sleep apnea tests, physciatrists and do sleeping machine for so many hours - pain in the ass that was. Any help i can give let me know. its all a matter of being patient i guess. Hope you had a great weekend. How old is the lil guy? Do you have other children? Amy
I did get your prior message.  However, I have been covering for a girl at work, then I went on vacation this last 5 days over Memorial Day.  I went up into Yellowstone National Park.  There was a lot of wildlife out.  I am orginally from North Carolina but currently I live in Wyoming.  A big difference in the areas.
How are you doing with your weight loss?  Having you starting losing weight?  I really appreciate you relaying the exercise infomation to me.  I still can not get a straight answer from my exercise therapist.  I have written her 3 times, asking specific questions about what I can and can't do.  She has answered each e-mail with a one sentence reply.  Very, very frustrating.  She tells me that they don't recommend their patients to lift more than 8 pounds until 4 months post op.  Where I live it is still very cold.  We just had an 8 inch snowfall.  I get out on days when I can and walk.  I have a stationary bike I would like to ride on our cold days.  I have some free weights I would like to start using with my arms.  Here, I can not get an answer from the therapist if it would be could to do either of these exercises.  I had such a painful recovery time, I do not want to do anything to injure myself and have to go through a surgery again.  I am trying to be careful but I would really like to add some diversity to my routine.  I guess the walking is helping though and I can not complain.  I weighed a week ago and had lost 28.2 pounds.  I can really tell a huge difference in my breathing.  It is a lot less labored.  I hate to admit it but showering and simply getting in the bed, was the most difficult things for me to do.  I would be overcome with a sense of doom each time I did these two things.  I hated feeling that way.  What was the everyday thing that was hardest for you to do?  HOw are your incisions?  My are still open but scabbed over.  So frustrating with this also.  It has been 6 weeks today and I still have open wounds.  Amy, I am 5 feet, 8 inches tall and the day of surgery I weighed 271 pounds.  I would really like to hear more or your surgical story and how your recovery has been.
Hope you had a great Memorial Day vacation
Debra
