Topic: RE: PCOS Pre-Op and getting nervous...anyone out there? :)
Hello,
I had an RNY 11 1/2 years ago....it worked GREAT! I lost over 200 pounds, (lol, I bet 5 lbs of it was hair....) Truely though, I think I was the only one who noticed the hair loss though, I still looked okay. Thank God, Plus it does grow back. I have regained some of the weight back, why, who knows lol, pick an excuse, I went on the pill, I have had a baby, lol, maybe I am too happily married, dont know. But I am still working on trying to maintain a healthy weight. I would like to STAY under 200 pounds.
Anyways, it is an adventure, no doubt about it. Oh, dont know if you guys have tried it....but metformin....it is a drug that a lot of diabetics take, (I am not diabetic, nor have ever been.) BUT, it DOES help lose weight, and help things like PCOS a little better. (I have that too...I thank God every day that I was able to have a baby! I was told since I was 14 that it would be highly unlikely!)
Dont ever drink soda, just say no. :o) Truely that stuff is evil. Oh, there will also be times when you WANT to eat, but your body just flat out refuses. You will have food on your fork, or even in your mouth, and you wont be able to swallow, because your little pouch is already too full. Times like that are annoying, but, it is worth it being thinner! Now...being far out as I am, I can pretty much eat whatever I want, but if I make bad choices, I sometimes pay for them. With RNY, I had the dumping syndrome bad. That too, will pass. Thank goodness. That pain is horrible, but, it is just our new tool, telling us to make better choices!
Best of luck to you, you will do just fine! Surround yourself with folks who love and support you, and believe in you.

Hello Cora Dee,
I am Cora Liz, :o) I just wanted to say good luck to you as you begin your weight loss journey! It seriously was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am 11 1/2 years post op. (I am 30) I had the surgery done when I was 18 and lost over 200 pounds. I am STILL working on losing weight, but I am still so much healthier than I ever was. Plus, now I am a mommy too. Yea! She is about to turn two years old.
Anyways, I also love board games, I am such a gamer girl. Plus also into art and reading too. I am a teacher, still looking for a full time job though.
I hope all is well with you, take it easy the first few days. Try your best and follow doctor's orders. Eat/drink your protein. Your body with thank you!
Take care,
~Cora

Topic: RE: looking for penpal
Hi I'm Linda and I live in Schwenksville Pa. I had my surgery 3yrs. ago and I was 60 yrs. old and I was never sorry that I did it. I had doubts and sometimes I had obsticles in the way and Iwould say maybe I'm not suppose to have it done . But one day I said to God give me a sign if I'm not suppose to have it done but something came over to tell me I was sure to have it done. The doctor was surprised that I came through with flying colors. I had no complicants .When I told the doctor that I was afraid to have done because of something happening to me, he said no matter with being obese I would not live to be old. I had more of a chance to get healthy. Make sure you go to somebody that you hear good things about. I knew people who went to my doctor. I know you live far away but I went to abington hospital in abington. It's ashamed you didn't go in Sept.look how far you would have been .Good Luck you won't be sorry.

Topic: VSG 12/09 regained & starting over looking for similar penpals
Hi,
I had VSG 12/2/09 everything was pretty good until I got pregnant. The minute I delivered my son I could eat again. My stomach had stretched out some. Since then has been tough. I would grab a snack in the middle of the night when I got up with my son and other poor habits have helped me to gain weight slowly and steadly for the last 15 months. I have gained 58lbs and trying to get back to the basics and learn to use my tool again and get to the gym to get this weight off. Anyone with a similar story or is looking for an encouragment buddy let me know. Best of luck to you all!
